I've heard of people using the fog light hole location as a source of scooping in more air into the intake. Has anyone done this? Also what are your thoughts.....

GraphiteDak has done something similar and it looks pretty good. He is our resident "lets see how well this works" guy. Take a look at some of the posts here and you should find him and a link to his personal website. Lots of good projects there that he has done or is in the process of doing. I think the only big down side to a setup like that though is if you live in a really wet area.

Air intake for the engine should be higher. Close to the ground it tends to be hotter, thinner, and dirtier. Besides, that's only a 4" hole.

But, the fog light holes would be a good place for brake cooling ducts.

doug: i have a cai on my truck. what i did was take off the rubber flap on the left side of the radiator(if you stand in front of the truck).if you really feel spunky you could relocate some of the other parts on that side to open that hole more and move the airfilter closer to the front of the engine.

Not to hijack a thread, but this ?? is along the same lines. Would it be better to put a cone filter on the end of the cai tube, and remove the round filter from the TB. Or leave the tube open ended and have the factory style round filter in place?

if your intent is to have a "ram air" system for a performance gain, save your money. test show that you must be in excess of 100 mph for the ram air to work properly. however, if performance is not your intent, it'll look cool. and there's nothing wrong with that.

Did you know that by removing the rubber flap,
you are loosing your low pressure area where by the stock 4.7 draws it's air from the base of the windshield, thru the right fender wall, and into your intake? Of course you didn't!

Then, if you remove the flap, and do nothing like building an air damn to keep out the hot under hood air, you took TWO GIANT steps backward!

Kinda like the yahoo's that think a cat back, or better yet, a 1 into 2 cat back, (LMAO), are doing anything EXCEPT giving them a several hundred dollar sound!, while often loosing HP and TQ.

Funny as hell, when a nebie comes on and asks about performance upgrades, and someone answers them like: you could get a 'cat back' and remove the rubber flap. YEA, dyno THAT!
