If the push rods on a magnum 318 were slightly bent would there be a noticable decrease in performance? If new push rods were installed would there be a noticable increase in performance or smoothness?

lets just say that bent pushrods will hinder performance. new pushrods will not make a "noticable" improvement. the term "noticable" is subject to interpretation.

Bent push rods are flexing all the time > Just a matter of time till it/they break > Lots easier to fix now <

So many problems > So little time

Yes, they will decrease performance. How much is hard to tell. Depends on how bad they are. When they bend, they effectivly become shorter. That decreases your valve lift and effective duration.

Why did they bend?

Of course they will. Come on when you talk about putting in a bigger cam, your talking in thousandths of an inch. Being bent you've lost probbably all of that (a few thou). On top of that it's most likely they will fail at some point in the near future.Unfortunately unless your a member you can't search old posts, but if you could look for the topic of :"pushrods" , or even "Crane Pushrods". They too are notorious for bending and wreaking havoc on magnum motors.
I bought the mopar 1.7 R.R. kit. it is made by crane. when I installed it in my stock (not decked)engine the pushrods were too short. After several inquiries on this and a few other sites I was informed that they had a habit of fialing. They are used with guide plates, but not heat treated (only the tips are). I even called the guy from quick D. He told me the proper rods to buy for my setup. He was dead-on.I switched to a set made by trick flow and they are perfect.

I dont know if they are bent or not. I have 190,000 miles on my 93 and think they may be a bit warped. I wonder if it might be worth replacing my pushrods and oil seals.
