looking back on the top of this post i see how you are doing the multiplication. one thing is the wheel size and weight should be factored in. its like taking a grinding wheel, sure with the small light weight disc it spins fast and responsive but add a larger heavier disc and the grinder loose all its tq. you could be correct with the gearing "4.10s" being times by 200ftlbs off the engine= 820ftlbs but that power to the ground is going through a huge power loss.

Satakieli, the confusion is because the rwtq and dyno measurements we all talk about are not the result of gear torque multiplication. Sure, with huge enough gear you can multiple torque to whatever value you want, the math is simple. That's not what the dyno measures and not what we mean when we say torque at the wheel. Dyno calculates the torque assuming there is no gear multiplication. It essentially measures the efficiency of the drivetrain and the loss of power. It does not measure towing capacity, which is defined by gear ratio. And as Mopar318 said, it'll measure same rwhp and rwtq with 3.55 gear and with 4.10 gear.

you do know that a stock 318 magnum makes 295ft lbs at the fly wheel or 300 for certain model years. where is this maybe 200 bullsh!t comming from? i do agree with everything else you said though.

Thanx 95V6. I understand what you're getting at. Personally i dont understand dyno's nor do i try to. If they are built to calculate then i will admit that fault. Toolfan no a taller gear ration wont make you lose hp(typically, that is if nothings causing any power loss). Yes you'd lose torque and therefore acceleration but you would gain a higher topspeed. That is the concept of OD in you're gear box. Also you are right about the power loss. Thats the concept of why rice boys use aluminum wheels. help reduce power loss through lighter wheels. Though i dont want to be around one when the tire blows out he he.
