I bought my SuperChips programmer right off of the shelf here in Phoenix at Lopers Performance. Was more like $360 but I was able to buy it at a whim!

Anyway. I DID try the TOW MODE once. I think I had 89 octane. Switched it to TWO MODE. Before I could get out of the gas station parking lot (where I stopped to program) it was pinging.
Pulled out on the street and it pinged like mad!

I then dropped it back down to 87 performance and all was well.

One time at the track I had 91 octane. Used 91 setting. Ran again in the 87 setting. Barely 1/10 difference in the 1/4!

The 87 setting seems to give the same tranny and limiter mods as the 91 setting.

Next time I tow, maybe I'll try thr 91 octane and the TOW mode again.

My engine is stock. I have a noticable difference when towing with the stock program and the 91 octane tow/performance program. I haven't tried towing with the 87 program mainly because the SC instructions say only to tow half of your truck's tow rating when running the 87 or 91 performance programs.

yes, that price was for part number 3715. I just installed the SuperChip 2 days ago and it is awesome--I have the 3.9L.
As for the name "Gunner", that was what my dad's friends called him when he was in the Marine Corps, since for a time he was a Gunnery Sgt. I liked the name and now I use "Gunner" all the time.

For me, it was a max 8hp on 91, running 93, over my stock. My stock is not all stock, but stock bottom end and heads.

It was about $300 for 8hp max, wow

I can make 300 Rear wheel ft lbs of torque now though, on premium and 93.

I dynoed. All seeting and octanes, under the same ambient conditions.

Hey Todd-
I'm doing a senior project for school on increasing horsepower in my 3.9L. See the thread in the V6 board. I've been Dynoing my truck after all the mods I do. So far I'm only at 146 HP and 218 ft/lbs...not too much for the mods I have. Check out the stuff I have done and the results. Can you tell me if there is anything I can do that will release the major HP?

Modain. I forgot about that. I just towed OVER 7,000 Lbs using the 87 program!

Next time I get a tank full of 91, I'll try the tow setting again.

But I had no problems with the 87 setting.

Lots of good feedback on the Superchips. Anyone out there try it on an R/T? or 5.9L ? Hoping to see some dyno data on a 5.9L similar to Gunner's V6 info. For some reason Superchips hasn't published any data on the 5.9L Dak.

modain,

Yea, family, work, you know.

My Truck still runs awesome.

These days, it's bored, with two child seats in the rear of my Quad cab, and my wife driving it.

I still take it for a little trip here and there, almost daily. It really likes to bbrrreeeaaattthhheee, with me driving it.

Good thing both our vehicles are manual, she's a good driver-thank god.

TexasTodd. You are letting your WOMAN drive your truck? Aw man! :(

LOL! I just had to pick on your for that.

Actually, when my Dak was brand new, the wife would take it to work several times a week (I drive a company vehicle and wouldn't be home to STOP her).

After the NEW of it wore off after a month or so she started driving her 1998 Cirrus more often again. Probably the GAS difference became evident as well!'
I think 6 months after having the truck we traded her Cirrus in for the 2004 Grand Caravan SXT which is all she has driven since :)

thx TexasTodd I was too antsy and ordered it yesterday. Picked it up today at 10am for 550.00, I would have liked to have gotten yours from you but now it would cost me 25% to just take it back without any defect. We both lose> So far I'm running the 87 program until I empty my tank then I'll try the 91. So far it feels pretty good even without the 91oct.

well i finally got my superchip tuner in last night. at first, i installed the 91 octane performance program. i hamnmered it out of my road and it was pinging like hell. i only had 87 octane gas in the tank. i then switched to the 87 octane program and it stopped pinging. it made a very big improvement in acceleration, power and shifting. as soon as i empty this tank of 87 octane, i will run some 91 octane in it and install the 91 octane performance program and se how much of an improvement it makes. it definately was worth the money.
