I had my a/c drain back-up and leak about 1/2 gal of water onto my passenger carpet and floor board. I know this is a problem with Dakota's and Durango's, but what can I do to fix it? Thanks for any help.

The drain tube goes to a rubber elbow underhood.

dude: the drain tube is located on the engine side of the firewall on the passenger side of the truck, it is just a plastic 2 inch long tube that is part of the heater box, inside the heater box is the a/c evaporator and the heater core, when your a/c is running and condensation builds up (if the area is clean) it just drippes out onto the pavement, but if it is clogged up as in your case it builds up and leaks onto your passenger side floor, the only way to clean out this tube is to either use a wire or long slender object to try and dislodge debris from the area or remove the dash, remove the heater core box and then clean out the area, my advice to you is to just get underneith the truck on the passenger side and insert a coat hanger into the opening of the tube and try and clean out all the gunk inside, and if you are really feeling adventurious, take an elbow of either plastic or rubber and attach it to the end so this will no longer be a problem for you.

Mine was hard to see too, it was under a heat shield just behind the exhaust cat, pass side, firewall. two screws held the heat shield in place. Its behind there on my 00 and 02 daks, used a 1/2 inch street elbow with a small hose clamp to divert the condensate down. Worked great.

DODGE has a fix for this... the factory drain tube is straight forward.. when in motion, gravity works against it draining. you can buy this elbow for under 10 bucks, I think. just ask at the parts counter for the elbow fix for the TSB on the A/C leak, they should know what you're asking for ( and yes, THERE IS A Technical Service Bulletien on this...) or if you're really nice about it, ask to talk with a tech, he may just give you one... mine was like this, but I work as a tech, and was really cool with the dodge tech. I wouldn't recommend using a hanger. you may puncture the evaporator core, costing a HIGH bill to replace... the ENTIRE dash has to be pulled to fix a leaking evap core. I used compressed air, and a air nozzle to blast mine free of debris, then added the elbow on. look down on the passenger side of the engine bay, right behind the manifold.. you should see a 1/2 inch tube sticking out...
