02 4.7. Was looking at a Kenne Bell supercharger because I like the torque and low band power as opposed to centrifugal s/c's. However Kenne Bell no longer makes them. Could not get KB to tell me why but Kennedy's told me it was due to pinging/knocking since the 4.7 has such a high compression ratio. Anybody out there have a KB on their 4.7. If so have you ever had problems with pinging/knocking and if so was there anything you where able to due to alleviate it? Also what computer flash did you use with the SC. I know the KB's would come with a custom flash but being that I would be getting a used SC since they don't make them would I just get KB's normal Optimizer II flash?

I've had mine for over 3 years now. No detonation problems. The way i understood it was that Kenne Bell could no longer "flash" the computers once Dodge incorperated the ECU and TCM. I have a 2000 4.7 auto with the two units seperate. I've been looking for someone to "tune" my setup and Kennedy's said they don't have the software available to do it. At least that's what they said in the spring. I also run 93 octane. Good luck.

What are your overall thoughts on the Kenne-Bell? Are my assumptions about the torque and low end power correct? Are you using a flash of anykind now? Would you do it again given the chance?

The only issue i have is tuneability, but i think that is more of a dodge issue than a kenne bell. There just are not many people out there that can get the software for the 4.7's. With the gas prices the way they are now it's not a good time to ask me if i would do it again;) The only flash i am using is the one kenne bell installed. They actually warn against using other flashes with their blower due to the advanced timing which is ussually where other flashes get their extra power from. I got 270 rwhp and 317 lbsft or torque.

IDIOTS??!?! Stop wasting your money "trying" to make a freakin' Dakota fast. Your the new role models for American Ricer's Anonymous. And I thought there would never be a group off idiots dumb enough to degrade the perception of trucks such as yourselves!!!! You want a fast vehicle, buy a freakin' sports car! Trucks are for towing and off-road, not racing!

Not true my friend. I seem to recall watching road tractors (without trailers) race up Pikes peak. Go ahead and tell one of those guys that they are ricers and watch them hook you to the fifth wheel and drag you around a little.

These trucks are a very good platform for builtup. The key is that they start with 8 cylinders.

A sports car is fun becuase they are fast out of the box. Dakota's are fun becuase you make them fast. And you can still throw stuff in the back.

A man with some intelligence, I like that! Your definately right on the platform idea. If you have a truck, why not work on it. My main problem is with the comparison of a Dakota to a car actually made for performance or not. Even a domestic or foreign base model 4 banger can eat a truck that's been modified. Thus, why try and brag that your $20,000 truck after $5,000 in upgrades beat a $9,000 car with $500 of accessories.

Why would anybody do anything to anything?? I mean really, there's always something faster than whatever your driving. Maybe is has something to do with the fact that some people enjoy modding their vehicle (car or truck or bike). IF its not your thing than just shut the hell up and drive YOUR truck stock!!! I don't recall comparing my truck to a car but I'll tell ya I get a kick out of smoking many vehicles that really don't expect a quad cab dak to be quick. Hell, for that matter i was beating many of these "4 bangers" you speak of when i WAS stock!!! It's not always the fastest vehicle that wins at the strip, I think that's why there is such a thing as bracket racing. Jerk off...........
