cuzindoug, if you were talking about forced induction, nitrous or a highly modified all motor I would agree with you but not simply changing spark plugs.

The miracle sprark plug is as elusive as the perpetual motion machine.

Yes, that was what I was talking about. The spark plugs wouldn't cause you to burn lean unless your o2 sensors, among other sensor, were bad. I was just pointing out the fact, that it "could" happen. Perpetual motion machine:) I watched that on Myth Busters:)

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

The real deal is........ Spark plugs do not control lean/rich mixtures in any way > And if in fact the E3 plugs do actually have a fast flame front it is the absolute worst thing you want > Fast flame fronts at slow town driving speeds causes poor fuel millage and reduced performance at these speeds > You need a long burn at slow speeds > If in fact you are able to cause a lean mixture beyond what the PCM can adjust for you will be throwing codes continues > Someone stated the makers of E3 plugs has great information about plugs > You can bet your last dollor there infotmation makes there plugs look better then unbelievably great > You want actual facts you can believe read independant resurch information > It's as good as it gets far as the real deal goes > pick your poison and do your own testing from there

Just because the E3 isn't a miracle plug doesn't mean that there is no such thing as a quality plug. Iridium and platinum plugs are still tops in performance and longevity. The cheapest and some say the best plug for the 3.9/5.9 series engines are the Autolite 3923's.

You didn't say what engine you have.

The problem w/ the 3923 is that they go bad way too fast.
I have used 3923s for more than 2 years and they are very inefficient at 12 K miles. I got tired of changing them so frequently.
The other point is that i believe in evolution.
Eventually, some one will always come w/ a better product than the existing ones. That is why we are at this level of technology, and my desiree to try any new product is purely for testing purposes.
In the E3 plugs case, i did not regret at all, except for the fact that the next ones will be the same heath range as the 3923s versus the oe ones i have.

ricardcapecod,

I hope the E3's are working good for you, I tried a set of Bosch Platinum +4's in my truck before the E3 3.64's. Every plug that I have tried out so far have been equivalent to the Auto 3923s. I have tries the torque master, Bosch Platinum +2 (4301) and +4 (4317). So I know how my truck performed on the Bosch Platinums and for me the E3's have out performed every other plug I have tried so far. The only plug I have not tried is the Halos, they didn't have the spark plug that I wanted. I believe that the Halo's would perform similar to the E3's.

Wadak, I definitly think that the E3s are one of the best i ever had, but i most say that i was looking for the Halos first, and because i didn`t find, i decided to check the E3s.
Halos will be next.
I`m planing to go 30k or so miles on these E3s, maybe more, lets see how it performs on the Cape Cod winter. So far, it is on for 12k miles.

I have been doing some reading here about plug changes and fuel economy etc. I then spoke to a local custom mopar shop and the mechanic I spoke to told me some interesting things. He has a 01 3.9 V6 and did some plug testing on the dyno. He'd run it on one set of plugs then change them and run it again etc. with autolites, ngk uridiums, Bosch, stock champion. The conclusion, they found absolutely no difference over the stock champions, with a 3.9 V6 that is. Was also told some of the header manufacturers won't recognize the warranty if Bosch plugs are used. Best thing is use a stock plug as the expensive ones do nothing. The best bang for the buck with the 3.9 v6 is to modify the exhaust or additionally add a chip. Not much else will do anything. Just what I found out.

Regarding adding the catback exhaust one shop told me it would only help on the highway another it would only help at city speeds, can anyone shed some light on that one for me? thanks.

I have a 1996 Eagle Talon ESi No Turbo Just motor in the past I have run Bosch Platium +4 and saw a big jump in mid and top end but it ate gas like it was a buck a gal. I am up grading my Coil to an MSD 36k Volt and Accel Wires with E-3 plugs I did the math and that should be a great combo for my 2.0l A420 motor. I have the cold air intake and Headers already. My goal is to get the motor to as close as I can to 200bhp. So what do you think about that

I think E3's are junk!
I looked at a set and found that the center electrode was ground to length and the slag left hanging!
The threads were buggared, then the thing was chromed to hide it.
They are cheaply made!

I bought a set of Halo's and the workmanship in those are outstanding. Same idea in design although they do cost more. I have a set in my Subaru but haven't put them in my Dak yet. Tranny and Headers first!
