Does anyone know if there is any way to prevent the converter from locking when in third gear?
Under certain conditions, ie. long gradual hills the engine starts losing rpm, you have to keep easing into the gas then it suddenly downshifts and the engine screams. Only to immediatly shift back into third. If I can make the converter only lock in OD I would be much happier.
Thanks

99Dako,
I had the same problem , I ended up completely losing 3rd, 4th, and overdrive. I'm not tring to scare you ,I'm just letting you know that is how mine started out. You should have someone look at it. I ended up getting a new trans and am still putting it in. Does it only do it when the trans fluid is up to temp.,and you have been driving for awhile?

The PCM controls TCC (torque converter clutch) lock-up. it should unlock when you push on the gas push a certain percentage (5-10%?)

Try accelerating a little before the hill.
