i was "racing" a 3-series on the highway when i hit the damn limiter at 117 again and it shuts down throttle till i hit 90, then the throttle resumed. I know about the key thing, but i don't want to loose my instrumentation. Besides buying a $200+ programmer is there anyway to push up or remove the speed limiter (i don't need to remove the rpm limiter)

NO, why would you want to drive faster than your tires are rated for anyway? have you ever seen what happens when a tire blows at excessive speed?

Yah what they said is true and is very dangerous, you need to find out what your tires are speed rated for and you will need the least of an "H" rated tire to go that speed safely without the tire coming off the rim.

And to think. When I was a kid, I'd drive a "grandma car" with 235-75 15's to 150MPH.

That was before I had any sence to know better.

I rarely have any reason to go that fast these days. But I've rarely done it when provoked out on the OPEN highway a few times. No 117 MPH limiter here.

my opinion is it's not gay. it's there for a reason but, if you must, the only way to "remove" it would be a custom flash. the Superchips tuner will raise it but not eliminate it. there, i answered the question.

if you have the knnowledge, you could design a circuit to cut the signal to the speedo in half.

I think everyone's already scolded you enough, so I won't try to beat you down any more.

It's only there because you know as well as I do that some idiot would try to go faster then that in an uncontrolled environment, roll over, and sue Diamler Chrysler for making an unsafe truck. Thanks the trial lawyers and frivolous lawsuites for that.

Tire ratings are a serious consideration, especially for driving fast for an extended period of time. Keep in mind that any tire that is speed rated will be a passenger car tire. When you put a car tire on, you loose your load rating, so you can't generally load your bed as heavily. Just something to think about. I think that all of this is covered in your Owner's Guide.

Somebody good with linear circuits should be able to devise a simple divide-by-two circuit that could be installed at the speed sensors. There are more than one, if you got an auto trans.

I thought of doing that, but the SuperChips works better.

the speed sensor is on the rear axle housing.

I thought of making a circuit with a switch. Divide by two would be easy and you could easily look at the speedo knowing you are doing dbl. Or if you have GPS like I do, it tells you your exact speed.

I wonder what voltage the speed sensor is? Probably 5VDC just like most other things. Youcould build that circuit with parts from Radio Shack.
