Last night my friend calls me. Says his Camero Z28 quite running a few miles away and asked if I could "rescue" him and his family.

So I went and picked them up.

On the way back to his house I was on a straight section of pavement. It wasn't good enough to demonstrate the SuperChips improvement to the rev limiter and shifting running in 2HI.

So... Like a mad man I stop. flip the switch to 4 LO

Hit the gas. It doesn't even sqeek the tires from the start but it immediately revs 1st and barks the ever living PISS out of my tires!

I mean. I've got them to barely bark a few times at 50MPH in 2HI. But it was silly how hard it barked them in 4 LO!

I wonder how much TORQUE I'm applying to my axles and drive train when doing that? Don't want to think about it.
But wish I had the camera with me and running for that one. It's not something I should do very often on DRY pavement.

Anyway. On a side note. I took the friend back to his car. Figure out it's a FUEL problem on his LT1 350 when I spray fuel down the TB and it starts briefly. We can HEAR the fuel pump run. but LOW fuel pressure. I went home again and got my jack. Got under his car and checked the fuel filter. it's fine.

2 hrs into this last night he finally says "I wonder if my fuel gauge is just off?"

Holy sh*t I thought!

yup. His gauge said 1/8 tank. He was just out of gas!

Anyway. SuperChips tuner = FUN!

Can't wait to go 4.56's on this beast!

Hey Graph! I was beginning to think you fell off the face of the earth! Long time no post! Anyhoo, how exactly does the superchips tuner work? I mean, how/where do you plug it in at and does it have to stay in the vehicle to keep the programming? Also, if you set it at the 87 does it affect your gas mileage? Just wondering if I should buy one or not especially since I just found out that my dak had the death flash done before I bought it and now I don't know how to get rid of it without paying out the wazoo for either another pcm or to have my "custom" flashed.

hahaha you decided on 4.56's, I was thinking the same thing. Those will definately wake up your truck.

4.56s + superchips = bald tires hehe

EMTSquad51, it plugs in and you follow instructions to program the PCM.

Then you unplug it.

Gas mileage is just as good, except for when you first program it. That's because you are "playing" with the truck more due to the performance.

I'm just sticking with the 87 program. Seems to give you all of the features as the 91 setting except the timing is not as advanced.

I've towed with the 87 setting as well.

I've been around. But been busy at work more lately.

8banger. I WONDERED if someone would notice that I mentioned 4.10's for months and now I said "4.56's" :)

I am looking into the possibility of getting a toy hauler. If I do, I think I'll shoot for the 4.56's for the additional benefit for towing, letting the gears do the work.

I figure that if the 4.56's turns out to be a bit much, I'll slap on some 31's next time I buy tires :)

That's cool Graph. I just found out yesterday that my truck had recieved the "death flash" before I bought it and am being told the only ways to get rid of it is to either have the pcm reflashed ($2-300) or just buy a superchips tuner.

The supertuner will remove the "death flash". I had it done to my truck by the dealer. The only way around it was the supertuner.

The added performance was a nice bonus.
