I auto-X my R/T in SC in ESP. Like you a friend of mine w/ an EVO dragged me along and I was hooked. Check out a Hotchkis/Bilstien combo kit for sure. Also if you have the funds GS Motorsports makes a tubular A-arm and coil-over kit for about $1600 that seems auto-x ready. There's a guy in SoCal that races his 4.7L RC that has adjustable rear shocks. The biggest thing I can say to do is play with tire preasure. I run 42psi in the front and 38 in the rear. But this was before I installed my Hotchkis/Bilstien stuff. So now that the suspension is stiffer I'm going to start playing with air preasure again. Since the 5.9L block is so heavy the front end really pushes. The brakes really suck, if you haven't already fingured that out. I've lost my brakes twice now, but is was a really hot SC day. To counter act the front end pushing, some corners you can use your light rearend and higher HP to get the back end to come around. It's something that I'm just starting to get comfortable with. The next thing I think I'm going to invest in is some Powerslot slotted rotors and Hawk pads. Sam at SoCalDakota.com also races his truck, so you might want to give him a ring or drop him an email. Smoothness is the key with these trucks since they are so big and heavy. My fastest times are always my smoothest. When I try and push it, my time suffers. Good luck at the races.

What kinda stuff are you looking for? There is a ton of aftermarket parts for the 360 block. Check out
www.socaldakota.com
www.gsmotorsports.com
www.krcperformance.com
www.dakota-durango.com
just to name a few. Dakota-Durango has a really good listing of just about anything that you might want under their "part information" page. These trucks were definetly not made to auto-x'ed but it sure is fun. I always drop it into 2nd gear to minumize down shifting. You usually don't hit high enought speeds to need to shift. Plus it helps keep you in the peak of the power band. If and when it comes time to get new tires, look at the Kumho 711's they are way cheaper than the OEM RSA's and better. The Kuhmo's are little more sticky and more predictable. It takes some time to get used to how the truck handles, but it sure is fun to romp on the Mustangs, Camaro's and occasional 'Vette. What class are you running?

It's a timed road course event thru a course of cones. There a different classes based on your car and the modifications that have been done. It's all timed based and the best time for each class wins. There are classes for bone stockers to fully stripped and heavily modified. Check out www.scca.com and click on the map to find your region and when the next race is. It's also know as Solo2. The season is winding down so there may only be one or two left. It's good to see there's some intrest in getting our trucks out there and tearin' it up!! I'm the only truck that shows up consistently and am always a crowd pleaser with my loud V8 and smokin' tires. There's nothin' like the sound of a screaming V8!

It depends on how strick your region is, but you might be able to squeeze into "F" stock(FS). If not you can join the rest of us Dakota owners in "E" Street Prepared(ESP). Watch out for those Honda's they are some quick little bastards. The CRX's and Mini's can really tear it up. Good luck and have fun.

Yeah tell me about it, i know those Civics are fast. my sister has a '00 civic DX coupe, and she was running within a tenth of a second of the Vipers AND the Corvettes. almost beat them. Her car is out of hand. I think i am in ESP. not sure thought. but yeah i wanna take it as hard core as possible, like stripped out interior and roll cage and all. speaking of roll cage where can i get one? THNKS!

Going that far may push you into a even more modified class. There is a downloadable 2005 SCCA rule book on the SCCA web site that explains all the modications that are allowed in each class. A role cage might push you into the "Street Modified" class and those boys are really fast. Those are usually the stripped out and braced Civic DX's with fat, sticky tires that lift two wheels railing around corners. You'd have to look around your area to see who would be able to fab up a roll cage for you. But a short bed RC Dakota with a V8 could really be a show stopper if it were stripped and some good suspesion and tires added. Check out the Kuhmo V710's, they are allowed in ESP and not that expensive. If I weren't leaving the country in the next six months I'd invest in some for next season.
