Them Vortec's don't seem to have the initial neck snapping bottom end that we have. (I drive Vortec's daily, 4.8/5.7 and now a 6.0) but once they cross 3k they seem to pull hard.

But like I posted a while back, I beat a Chevy 2WD RC 4.8 at the track by 1/10 which was close, but still I expected a 2WD 4.8 to wax my 4X4 QC

Do the words "LIKE A ROCK" mean anything? LOL

I actually had a "ricer" pull up to me last week with his coffee can exhaust wanting to race. Smell liked "French" Roast to me, cuz he surrendered.

I have a story :) I had just gotten a car wash. I was sitting at the light and this like 1990 civic was revving his engine and staring at me...so I was like aright then. I hit it and went nowhere...just spun. So he beat me :(

First of all I'm impartial to brand. If it runs good and is reliable I'll take it-the faster the better! A friend of mine just bought a new Duramax 3/4 ton ex. cab 4X4. He put the edge programmer in that bad boy with a straight piped exhaust. It was honestly the fastest vehicle I've ever ridden in and I've been in some exotics before. He said it was a dog stock, but that programmer made it unbelievable. No joke, we were going 65 down I470 and when he stomped it the tires smoked. Not just chirped, or squealed, but I'm talking about a full blown crazy burn out. It was scary fast! Never knew they had it in them. Most people spend thousands on gas engines to get that kind of power out of them, I'm impressed.

i don't know if I believe that...if you flat spun out at 65 mph you would totally lose control..a chirp I could understand but spinning out at 65 mph...come on.

stever/t it sounds unbelievable, but the duramax has ALOT of potential.. I KNOW my V8 s-10 when going down the road at 55-60 and I full throttle it and it downshifts it breaks loose spinning.. so is it possible? YES

I was at the track last Sat night. My friend wanted to run his recently acquired 1995-ish Camero Z28 to see where it stands bone stock.

Anyway, in front of us was some young kids in a jacked up 2500 Duramax 4X4 4 door.
I think he had some programming, don't remember but was mostly stock.

I was surprised to see him run low 15's with that behemoth of a truck!

stever/t - I know it is hard to believe, man I didn't believe it when he told me. I'm a got to see it for myself to believe person. Anyway you're totally right in the fact that the truck was out of control. That is what I meant by scary fast, actually scary torque!

I forgot. He told me a friend of his with the same set up except for stacked chips and small lift and tires can run high 13's at the track here. I'm going to watch for myself to see if there is any truth to it this weekend. Let you all know. I'd imagine the biggest gain these guys can benefit from is to stop tire spin. I'll stop talking about these trucks because we are all about Dodge anyway. Just had to put in my two cents beause of personal experience with this thread subject.

once a lil mazda pulled up next to me going like 50, i stomped it and killed them , they couldnt keep up, threw me right into 4000 rpm range, all i have done is dynomax turbo muffler, k"n intake.

as far as spinning the tires in a big ole dieslel truck, i dont see it happening, the only way it is possible is because of the basically no weight on the tires, also if it is lifted its alil easier to spin them, i've driven in a 68 plymouth gtx, 10 sec. car 600+ hp 440 indy cylinder head motor, he had 28.5x 13.50 slicks and he cant break them free going anymore that 35,

And you wonder why he didn't break traction??
What is the purpose of slicks again??
Oh yeah, to keep you from spinning out.....

I'm sure that diesel had narrow road tires.

well i know what the reason of slicks are, but a lifted 2500 diesel i bet doesnt have skinny road tires, maybe morealong the lines of 38x13.50 or bigger, also the stock tires on thoise trucks measure out to be almost 33 12.50
