Hey guys,
I'm ripping my hair out over this one.My truck is a 99 R/T.I pulled the intake and heads.I had them fully ported. In fact the heads were heavily modified.I had the welding done where the pushrod is located on the intake port. This was done to remove some of the wall that is protruding into the intake port.Basically,The port was opened up all the way over into some of the weld.Hope this makes sense.I also had the heads milled .030.I put it all back together.Because of the milling,I also had to shim up the rocker arms or else the valves would hang open from milling.Stupid non adjustable arms.Anyways,I put it all back together. Now it runs, but I have a loud popping coming out the exhaust. Also,it sound as if I have a dead cylinder.I rechecked the rocker arms thinking they were misadjusted. They were ok.I performed a compression test to confirm and I had 155 psi in each cylinder. The truck ran great before I took it apart. So I think I can rule out ignition problems. Is this popping and totally running like crap because of porting and polishing the intake and heads?Help!!

not sure about your problem but, instead of shimming the rockers you should put in some adjustable pushrods. that way you can reset valve lash to factory specs.
