Luc, how many miles on the engine? I had a '92 5.2 Dak once, and even at 200K, it used only 1 quart in 3K miles. One thing that will slow oil burning/ consumption in older vehicles is a switch to heavier viscosity oil. I went from 10w-30 to 10w-40 on the old Dak. Currently, I have a 4.7 with 118K, uses Mobil1, and burns 1/2 pint in 5000 miles.

Does it smoke when running, just at startup, or not at all?

85,500 miles and no smoke at all, doesn't leak in the drive way so its either burning it or belly pan gasket?

I have a 98 DAK 4x4 318cid. I had the same problem with oil consumption, no smoke and no oil leaks any where. I looked down the throttle body and found an oil slick in the Intake Manifold it was the plenum that was gone. So i threw in a M1 Intake and no more oil loss. Its about 380$ at Mancini Racing. There are other places available to buy. If cost is an Issue, you might change the plenum gasket for a better one on the market. I hope it helps good luck

the 1/4" plenum plate from Hughes engines works great and at $70 for it and all the bolts and gasket is a bargain.
