I'm not cool enough to have a V8 so I had to be cheap and buy a V8 TB for my V6.

Message: Why would you invest in a 70mm unless you already have the mods to support it? 68mm is more than enough for a stock engine.

Generally when buying after market parts you get the ones that will work best with your planned end combination. So he has headers and exhaust on his truck, and the next logical step from there is throttle body. When making this purchase the price of a 68mm and a 70mm is the same. Instead of investing twice, get the correct one for the end combo 1st, the 70mm. Then when he gets the next logical mod 'Cams' he has the throttle body that is best for his Combo, not one he has to trade in and upgrade. To quote you "think!". Put one hand on each cheek and push, when you hear the loud pop you will be able to see the light.
Think it's all good AutoRama.

Message: Shorty headers don't do much for the 4.7. Do you expect much from the 70mm tb? Without at least the HO setup I doubt you will benefit much. In fact you might want to bypass the HO cam and go to KRC for a cam.

Message: Does that TB have a "torque step" in it? It looked like it in one of your pix here....
I'd be tempted to go with a 70mm. My power is very flat from the launch and drops at 6200. I'd like to have a little more peak up top. If I lost a tad at the very bottom, it would maybe help by not spinning the tires so relentlously!
It's a tough thing choosing some mods. You buy one part, and you do something different later and then you need/want a DIFFERENT part to replace the other part you already replaced once before! i.e. After I swap gears and do a full exhaust, I'd like cams more agressive than the HO's I already dropped in.

Message: Hey guys,...
Well the TB is installed WOOT.
I must say,... Adding this 70mm TB is like driving a totally different truck.
From a dead stop like at a red light I can now squeal both rear tires on the take off where before I couldnt without standing on the brakes.
From 40-50mph when i step on it, the truck seems to pause about 1/10th of a second and then it just freaking takes off like a bat out of hell.
I can totally feel a difference in response and power thru-out the RMP range although I have no proof of it other than say so.
I recommend at least the F&B 70mm TB to all who have the 4.7L. I totally Love It and am very very happy with it.
All of the pictures i took during the install can be found here: http://www.onlineautorama.com/forum/showthread.php?t=534
As far as "Torque Step" goes,... Sorry I dunno man, I didnt mess with anything because the instructions said not to make any adjustments to the TB because the PCM would do it for me.
As far as a cam goes,... man i dunno about that to. Its a New Truck 6mos old with 1100 miles on it. I'd hate for something to happen and not have a warranty but boy would i sure love to swap them out for sure...
The next thing i think i need is a real Cold Air Intake when one hits the market. True Flow has one for the 05 Dakota that hooks directly up to the stock Air Box, At least with the True Flow I'd have a decent air tube.

The 70mm and JBA Shorties improved my truck by nearly a 1/2 a second in the 1/4 mile. And I have 2.5" true duals and I guess you will say my low end torq went to sh!t also.
How many of these modifications have YOU actually done and posted the before and after Dyno or time results on? Thanks for your opinion, it makes for an informative internet.

Message: I called them and the woman gave me Part # 30503 which also happens to be the same for all the 2000-2004 4.7L Dakota's.
I'm going to call back when and if i actually do decide to order one to make sure the # is correct.
It should be with in the next couple weeks or so.
I need to have my Truck Dyno'ed 1st to see if any gains from the new TB installed or not tho.
All these things cost cash and cash is becoming harder to get.

Message: In the short drive that i did go on i noticed a much better, more Responsive Throttle Response. From a Dead Stop at a Red Light when I step on it I can actually make both tires squeal where before i had to brake stand to do it. At speeds of around 40-50 when I step on it, it kinda pauses for a 1/10th of a second and totally takes off running.
is this impressive for a 4.7? it seems to stutter and then takes off? that is not what you call responsive throttle response. you can now sqeak both tires? i can do that with a v6.
this is not impresive. this is not worth $400.
