A couple months ago I read that the K&N Generation II FIPK 57-1516 Kit will work on the 2005 Dakota 4.7L Trucks.
If i remember correctly I read that all that was needed to do was to drill a hole in it for the Temp Sensor.
I was reading the Install Manual for it located at http://www.kandn.com/instructions/57-1516.pdf
And from what the instructions read they show you where and how to drill the hole for the vehicles that have the heat sensor...
Also this same kit works for all 4.7L Dakota's and Durango's models from years 2000-2004.

I searched every Dodge Dakota Site out there and I can no longer find the post that I read where it works on the 2005 Dakota's.
Is there any 2005 4.7L Dakota Owners out there that have used this Kit on their 2005 4.7L Dakota and what were the results?
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions on this subject I'd like to see what you got to say about this. I know there are many people who have made Home Made ones so your thoughts might also be helpful in this. I didnt want to go Home made because i dont have the time to go out and research and find the required parts needed to make a home made one so it's worth it for me to just pay a bit more for a complete system delivered to my door without me having to go anywhere. Plus the fact knowing that the K&N Systems has already been Dyno Proven and has a warranty.
So lets hear your thoughts on this and do you think it'll work...

I just put a K&N Gen II FIPK 57-1516 on my 2005 dodge dakota, the only thing that doesn't fit is the mounting for the heat shield. What i did was went to the homes depot and picked up a piece of metal framing track and bent it, to make it fit from the box the the inner fender well.
