I just install a cam into my 97 Dodge Ram SS/T. It has the 5.9L, I install a comps cam (20-604-8) I don't know the specs since I bought it from another guy that had it in his R/T. The truck idles fine and there are no codes. But when I put it on Drive it the revs lower and the truck dies. How can I get my Idle little higher? I haven't got my crank and cam sensor sync yet, do you think that would help? I read on KRC performance website to set the cam sensor at 0 to 4 degrees with a cam. Any info would help. Also I already changed th IAC on it.

You put a cam in your motor without knowing the specs? Wow, your ballsier than I. Well it says it WILL require computer modifications. Also with that high of a lift on a performance cam, I would think you would really want a higher than stock stall torque converter - like 1,200-1,500 RPM. You can always tighten up the throttle cable temporarily for more RPMs, but that will make everything run hotter than it should and put extra load on your drivetrain (and make it clunk going into gear). Heres the specs on your cam:

---------------------------------------------------
20-604-8
Computer Controlled Hydraulic Roller Camshaft (For 1992-Present Magnum Engines).
Lift: .512''/.512''
Duration @ .050'': 210°/220°
RPM Range: 900-5200
Note: Hydraulic Roller- Best preformance cam for 360 Magnum engine. Works with stock computer. This cam has oil holes and a long snout.
Note: Will require computer modifications.

Operating Range: 900-5200 RPM
Duration Advertised: 264° Intake / 274° Exhaust
Duration @ .050'': 210° Intake / 220° Exhaust
Valve Lift w/1.5 Rockers: .480'' Intake / .480'' Exhaust
Lobe Separation Angle: 112°
---------------------------------------------------

You have to get your sensors right, then you have to get your computer modded. If it bogs off the line or when putting it in gear after that, you need a higher stall converter.

Good Luck
