I installed the Jeep HO cams in my 01 Dak Sport CC 4x4, 4.7, they added a considerable amount of low end kick.

I highly reccomend installing them, I am not sure if a Dealer can install aftermarket Mods, even if they are Mopar. but I would ask just to be sure.

overall, best mod I have

01 Dakota Sport CC 4x4 4.7L
5-Speed HD
3.55 Rear Open Diff
Jeep HO Cams
Gibson Short Headers
K&N FIPK Gen II
70mm F/B Ported TB
Flowmaster 40 Series Dual Chamber Exaust

Future Mods
Clutch Fan Removal, 3rd Cat Removal, IAT Mod, SuperChips 3715 Tuner, ASP Crank Pulley, and possibly a gear swap, 3.92s or 4.10s, and PowerTrax Rear Locker

The HO cams are worth the effort. 15 horsepower and 25 ft/lbs torque have been shown after air intake/TB/exhaust mods as well. The real plus, especially in your case, freddy, is the "sweet spot" of extra torque around 3400 rpm. I bought mine for $130 each, and paid a Dodge mechanic $200 to do the job at his home. I enjoy the results every day!

3400 rpm sweet spot? I need lower. Going 100MPH, my tach is reading 2500rpm. If I turn off Overdrive at that speed, the tach is much closer to 3500, once the torque converter locks up.
How about a longer runner intake to bring rpm of HP/TQ peak down some.
And some long tube headers to bring rpm of HP/TQ peak down some more.

And does anyone make a V8 engine without that silly 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 firing order? If the firing alternated from odd to even cylinders, the exhaust pulses in each exhaust manifold would be evenly spaced, and the exhaust system could be optimally tuned.
Instead we gota use h-pipes, x-pipes, cross-pipes, etc. It's not a true dual setup.

Jackson, I switched out my 02 intake manifold with longer runners for the 04 manifold with shorter runners, I will sell you mine for fairly cheap if you are interested, i did notice the manifold pulls slightly better in the upper end whereas the other manifold pulled slighlty better in the lowend.

why do you care about going 100mph in a 4WD ???

taller gears would raise your rpm.. and get ya there faster..

Taller gears are slower off the line but give higher top speed. Lower gears get you there quicker.

I didn't see any loss of gas milage when I put the HO cams in - good mod - more torque throughout the whole range.

I think that was his way of saying that even at high speeds, his engine is still low in its RPM range, and that's why he wants some more low end grunt.

I'm sure it was - I wanted to correct the misconception we occasionally see here that taller gears will raise your rpm. Taller gears are highway gears; where as it is lower gears (the bigger #s numerically) that will raise your rpms. A lot of people seem to get confused on this.

Kowalski did you go from the stock 3.55's to 4.10's or did you have 3.92's? Im stuck, I really want some lower gears but don't want to go to 4.56's mostly because I hear those whine really bad and barely fit/have to be modified for our carriers, but I'm not sure going from my current 3.92's to 4.10's will be much of a differnce to justify the cost. You have any insight?

I started with 3.55s, so it was a good jump for me. Now that I've done it, I'm quite pleased with the result with my stock 31x10.5-15s. If you're thinking about going with taller tires, I'd say go right to the 4.56s. My 4.10s are quiet, I think largely due to a quality installation - they cleaned them up some. Probably worth going with one of the top brands if going to 4.56 - I hear that's Richmond or Precision. I'd find it harder to justify the expense of going from 3.92 to 4.10. Still doing well with the milage - surprisingly, the 4.10s give me slightly better gas milage.

Kowalski, who did your gear install and how much total? What make gears? I am from eastern MA and would travel for quality work like that. Some other places would just throw them in,seems like the place you went to goes the extra mile.

I used Yukon gears and an Auburn limited slip. Price will depend on what you use and where you get it. I went to Wzorek Auto Repair (who specializes in rear end work) in Westfield (413) 568-1886. While the Auburn is better than stock, they say the pricier Eaton is even better. See what you can find for parts pricing on the internet, then give them a call to see what they would charge for what you want to go with. The job will take a couple of days for a 4x4.

I am the one who recommended Wzorek's to Kowalski. They do excellent work. This is where i had my 4.10's swapped also.

A good freind of mine who is a front end specialist also recomended Wzorek's; they have an excellent reputation for this kind of work among mechanics in the area. I wouldn't recomend them for work outside their specialty though, they tried to tell me I needed new front brakes because they were "rusty". Just use them for gear work.

I have the same truck, running 3.55's still and the HO cams didn't hurt my towing at all.
I even run mine in OD all the time towing.

I kinda wish I went the next step up on cams.
But I also plan in 4.10 gears myself. I'm just a year behind on my planned mods however!

I expected to do gear swap (sucks on 4X4) last winter and be doing dual exhaust this summer.
Haven't done neither yet

So where's the cheapest place to get 4.7 HO cams?

Cheapest I have found is http://www.buymopar.com/store/jeep.html they have them for $109 each.

Kowalski, You said your mileage was slightly improved with the 4.10 gears. Is this city, city/hwy or hwy mileage. I am considering the 3.92's or 4.10's but don't want to sacrifice hwy mileage, I drive too many miles to make the truck's mileage worse.
