I have an 05 with the 4.7 and it seems like it has 3/4 the power my durango had. Below 4k rpm it is like a 4 cyl. The durango was a sport so it just can't be the gears in it can it? Is this thing just a dog or what? Also, the gas mileage is worse...only getting 12/16 vs. 15/20 in durango. Man if only it weren't called hindsight...

Your 05 is hundreds of pounds heavier than the previous gen's. Just guessing your curb weight is around 4300lbs. Thats a bit of a porker. While my 04 weighs in at 3714 lbs. Thats roughly 600lbs difference, give or take, depending on your options.

Could well be the gearing too - there's no special gearing specifically tied to the sport package. Lower gears are ordered seperately from that.

I made some curb weight comparisons back when www.dodge.com had both the '04 and '05 specs on at the same time. Basically, a GenIII CC weighed 150 pounds less than the new GenIV, but the GenIII QC was only 60 pounds lighter. The extra door hardware on the '05's certainly contribute to the gain. The lightest '05 CC is around 4100 pounds in 2wd. GenIII Regular Cabs (no '05 RC's made) weighed 3759 pounds with 4.7 5-speed 2wd. QC 4x4's check in around 4400-4500 pounds. Weight influences both performance and fuel economy, naturally.
