Spray them all with the garden hose. Little bastards leaving paw prints on my black truck.

You can cut it off, replace with a high flow, whatever. It's your truck.

cut it out and wire an O2 simm box from www.thefastman.com in place of the O2 sensor after the cat

i wouldnt do anything.... Catalytic converters dont really restrict flow unless you have extremely high performance mods, besides it is against federal law to remove the cat if it is to be driven on federal roads. They dont do inspections for nothing ya know..... ( thank them freaking tree hugging hippies in the epa for that)

If you really want to you can cut the third cat off. There are no sensors for it to worry about.

If you have a downstream O2 sensor, you do have to worry. It will trip a code, and will show up at inspection time. And it is against federal law to remove or disable emissions equipment, regardless of where it is driven. $2,500 fine. Cats are not restrictive unless failed (so buy a new one, or get it free if under warranty), and they reduce HC emissions by 90%.

As Android said, there are no sensors after the third cat. Even a new cat has some restriction.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

It is very sad how we don`t care about the future of the Earth.
I`m guilt of this crime too in some degree.
The point is that we did not inherite the Earth from our gramps. We borrowed it from ours sons and grandsons.
In today`s world, cats are extremelly necessary, even if we don`t get the extra 4 or 5 (IF) hp.
Let`s try to be a little more conscious.
About those hippies, seems like "again" they are right.
If you lived in the 60 and 70s you know what i mean.

Yeah the one thing you dont want to do is remove the third cat. I dont know anout anywhere else, but in PA it is a $1000 fine, and possible jail time believe it or not. Didnt think that was true until i started my criminal justice courses this year

I lived in the 60's & 70's - and not since have I heard any concern about overpopulation. This subject is often considered taboo; Religions (big business) are against it as all strive to be on top - more people in your religion, you're that much closer to world domination. As I have decided not to contribute to the overpopulation problem by bringing anymore people into an overpopulated world, please don't preach to me about removeing a cat for a bit more power/milage. The impact of my ancestors on the worlds resources/polution will be nil; the few people who remove their cats will not make a significant difference. Those who blindly overpopulate the world can't say that. If you really care, do something that will make a difference !

I have three cats too. One grey, one brown, one black and white.

My 04 Dak has two, little ones in the Y pipe, just the muffler below. Runs great, but the sound is not nice and rumbly like the stock Ram set-up, and I don't get it -- same engine size.

I wish my 03 had the two cats. Duals would be a snap.. I have the large single cat. However, I thought my Dak sounded pretty good when stock myself. the Flowmaster just made it a lot more noticable. The 4.7 has one heck of a deep idle.

Unless people fart unburned gasoline fumes, your argument makes no sense. Removing the cat harms everyone, immediately and every time you drive. My infant daughter sitting at home here breathing will not trigger asthma or cancer in you or yours.

BTW, birth rates are falling among native-born Americans, to the point where we are in a negative growth situation.

Bob - obviously you haven't thought this through. Your daughter will not stay an infant for life. She will soon be driving; reproducing, leading to more people driving, etc. Try to look at te big picture instead of letting these cat posts upset you so much...

We have come a long ways since the industrial revolution. I don't think people were borrowing it from their sons and grandsons back then. We are not talking about removing all cats. We are talking about removing the third cat. Many people still pass emissions tests (even the sniffer test) with just the two pre cats, that i believe are only on the 2004 dakotas

It's not only that, it's a total contempt for the law, which is becoming more prevalent than ever today (witness the illegal immigration and attempts to help them stay instead of deporting them).

And judging from the number of posts on removing cats, it's widespread, not rare.

I Care, you did not read my post. I said there was negative population growth in my family. Therefore, the number of people driving will decline, at least for a generation. Hopefully by then we won't be burning fossil fuels for cars.

I have to agree with Bob on this one.

There are ALOT of people out there driving with no cats whatsoever on there car. In some states they don't even have a state inspection to at least try to enforce this.

To me, it just doesn't seem worth it. For the price of the fine AND lawyer fees, one could buy a high flow cat and probably a supercharger for there car.

I think people fail to relize how serious a matter this is, this is the freaking Federal government and EPA that a person is dealing with when they get caught running without a cat.

And I would imagine that at this point in time they are dying to make examples of people, especially in states like California.

Fedearal law only states that a car must have the amount of cats it came with stock. therefore you can still do mods on your exhaust system.
Graphite dak, to do duals, put the cat on a balancer pipe. As long as it has the stock amount of cats ur doing fine.
