They arent really wicked fast. A V-8 Cherokee has the same engines as a dakota. 5.2, and the 4.7. Its just like driving a dakota but slower because of the added wieght. I have a 96 dakakota 5.2 and a Jeep Cherokee 5.2 and the dakota could smoke it anyday even with 1000 pounds in the bed.

Ed you can get a Jeep with the HO 4.7. It will blow away any stock Dakota. Someone also posted that they own both a Jeep and Dakota with the same engine, drive-train. The Jeep is faster. He speculated that the computers are set up different.
Raiderjm I would type "Jeep Grand Cherokee Forum" into Google search. Make sure its all spelled right.

Im talking about a jeep and a dakota with the same engines, the dakota will beat it everytime. The brand new cherokee is wicked fast with the hemi. Too bad dodge didnt stick one in a dakota even though the new dakotas weight a sh*t ton. It would be better in a Gen II

I just bought a 1989 Jeep Cherokee pioneer from a friend of the family, It is a 4.0 - 6 cil. I am havning a problem where is starts and works for alittle while then Dies out. It has a strong Engine at 132K miles, from what I hear the 4.0s
u can't kill them. I'm havning a hard time figureing out the problem and what I need to fix it...??? I was told a Coil / Igniter>? Something with the fuel pump and the spark.. Now it has been starting up so I don't think it's the spark or the feul, but I don't no...??? ANy Help Please
