Does anyone else have the Engine Light come on when there is nothing wrong, and over a long period of time it will go off, and come back on Months down the road?
IT has came on for the past couple of years, on and off, what mod caused this?
HO cams, FIPK, 70mm TB, Headers, Exaust??
I was going to take it to my dealership, and the light cut off the day I was going to get it checked.

happens to me every once in a while. i look up the codes and it has to do with the cat boxes i put on my truck since i have no cats. the bank 2 cat box seems to always throw a code. but look up what code u have and maybe i can help u figure out whats wrong. to do this turn the key on off on off on. the first two times u turn it on dont let the gages light up turn it off right away and only leave it on on the third time. then look in the little window that displays your mileage and some numbers will come up. when all the numbers are up it will say p-done. then research the numbers online on like google or something and u will find out what they mean.if u dont feel like doin that post the numbers here and ill look them up i have the codes all saved on my computer. lata.

Check you gas cap, if its not tightened all the way and leaks it will set of the check engine light.

My check engine light has been on solid since 2003 and I've done no mods since 2002. I've just ignored it since I know nothings wrong.

wut happens is when the computer senses that a fault has occured, it stores it in the "1 time fault" memory. when it senses the same fault another time, it turns on the check engine light. but after so may "good trips", it tells itself that the problem is gone and the light turns off.
if it keeps coming back on, then i would say there is a problem. have it checked or check it yourself like the other guy said and figure out wut the code is. i mean it mite be an "evap leak" code and you end up havin a cracked evap hose that cost maybe $10. go to a dealership and they will probly charge you an hour in labor just to check the code and then charge you even more to repair it.
figure out the code and post it so we can help you out.
