Subject: Which Autolites?

Hi guys i know that Autolite plugs are supposed to give good results on the Magnum motors but which Autolite plugs are they? The Autolite website dosen't state the usually recommended 3923's for our trucks..and when searched further the 3923's are fitment for a Toyota Supra!!Then after "trawling the net" i've found several 3923's including platinum and double platinums which one...???

There is also a 3923 copper.
I asked the same question, and someone here said to use the platinum plugs, AP3923.

Thanks..i've been given some AP3923's so my lucks in..because we can't get these plugs in the U.K very easily.

NGK ZFR5F-11 (2262) are a direct replacement.
One heat range cooler, just like the Autolite 3923.

I use the AP3923's with Taylor wires. I like it a lot it made my truck run much smoother. There are 3 different type of 3923's I believe. I think that most people here run the AP's, but you can do a search for them and find many different posts I'm sure.

I thought people said not to use plat. plugs in our magnum engines because it eats them out or something like that. I just heard not to use plats.

I'm going to open a can a worms here that I've never seen mentioned by anyone in here > Autolite plugs are the longest life plug because the metal is the hardest provided the resistor doesn't open up > This is not common but is more common on autolites > Champion plugs are the softest metal and wear the fastest > Platnum plugs are another thing > Platnum allows the coil to arc over to soon > In other words they fire to easy causing a weak spark > Now this can be a good thing IF you have a weak ignition system for what ever reason > Weak coil, bad wires or cap and rotor > So, If you put platnum plugs in your auto and it actually runs better and the plugs you took out were still in reasonable condition you need to be finding out what is going bad with your ignition system > Autos from over the big blue that come with platnum plugs come new with weak ignitions such as lucas ignitions > If your using oil your best bet is champion plugs > I use champions myself because I have never seen one go away unless it was way beyond reasonable life > I change mine every year so soft metal is not an issue > How bout heat range > How many understand exactly what it is > Going with fctory recommended plugs on the highway the rushing air and fuel entering the combustion chamber cools the plug very well > Where the heat in the plug comes into play is slow or town driving > The extended tip heats up much hotter to prevent fouling or carbin buildup on plugs which causes resistance and weaker spark > To go one or 2 steps cooler with the plugs prevents them from cleaning themselfs as the factory intended but if you have a detonation problem cooler runing spark can help at times to a point > The plugs would need to be running glow red hot to be your detonation problem > At that point they would be acting like a glow plug in a model car or plane > Think about it > again > You need to be looking for the real problem > Bet I get beat up over this one lol >> Oh well >> Enjoy
