Hey guys i got a few questions. Im going to be selling my truck and im trying to decide what to do.
1. Buy an R/T and mod the hell out of it.
2. Buy a reg cab 2x4 4.7 and mod the hell out of it
3. Buy a 97 reg cab 2x4 with the 3.9 or the 4 banger, tear out the engine and shoehorn something big into it, (old hemi, new hemi, hot 360, etc) and then find a 5 spd out of a wreck
4. Keep dreamin....

I really want a faster truck, having a 4x4 was fun but i think a street truck would be alot more fun. I would be happy with low 13's (this will be a daily driver and must get reasonable gas mileage (10-12 in city)Possible?

Bottom line is i want a fast truck and i have the money from selling my truck and some money i have saved to do it.

Mine is a 97 CC 5.2 4x4 Black with Black rock crawlers,(no giant chrome hubs) flomaster dumped right before the axle, Home brew intake with k&n,
31x10.5x15 wrangler mtr's, eclipse deck, 4 eclipes 3 way 6.5's and 2 10 inch p1 punches powered by 760 watt pioneer amp(forget model) but it does have almost 130,000 miles :( Never had any tranny probs, ball joints have been changed, the 318 is bulletproof, very reliable. This dakota was everything i thought it could be and i loved it, just want a street truck now.

I need some suggestions here guys, what would be a good way to go with this?

Thanks in advance for the reply's

I don't think you can "mod the hell" out of a v8 dakota and still get 10-12mpg city. I get that on my stock 318 with manual when I "baby the hell" out of it. Good luck. I am sure there are lots of things that you can do to put your truck in the 13's while still being daily driver..but not sure on gas milage

i got a idea get a extended cab v8 w/manual trans. if you want a street truck that my idea can do mods and still have resonable gas milage like air intake, exhoust , and h.o. cams or better money is the limit. unless u drive in alot of traffic or got a woman that wont drive a manual! i wish i knew how available a manual trans in the 4.7l was when i bought mine!
we got a 4.7l manual black extended cab with dual exhoust w/40,000 miles on it for 13,000 its got the nascar rims on it. just needs the fender flares! i dont know i got fender flares on mu dak and others dont look right to me just my opinion. good luck dreamer i like to see you get a hemi in there!

How about a 98 rc r/t with flo's, homebrew, and a blower at about 6 lbs (not sure on psi, help)

would this be a good place to start? then on with the long list of engine mods i want.
(funny how this mod bug gets ya even when you dont have the truck yet, eh?)

you can easily get an R/T in the low 13's and still get atleast 12mpg. Just put on a M1,52mm tb,cai,GSM headers,4.56 gears, crank pulley,B@G pcm flash,1.7 rockers and that should be it,all I have is an M1,53mm tb,cai,B@G flash and no precats and I'm low 14's now,so it can be done very easily.

hey thanx black02r/t that sounds pretty good, im still torn between an rc r/t and a rc 4.7 5spd. i know the r/t has more after market available for it, but a 4.7 with a turbo and a 5 spd sounds like so much fun.

Either way you look at it, you will have fun. Go with a stick truck no matter what you build that way you will like driving it. Just my .02.
