Subject: 4.7 stock injectors #22s???
IP: Logged

Message:
Bruce from 5-O Motorsports told me that my 2000 4.7 has stock 22 lb injectors. I guess thats why people who use the #21 FMS Bosch don't like them!

I thought stock ones were #19s.

Oh and I got some #23 Bosch ones from him and they ROCK!! Nice upgrade for $225.00

So are you saying just swapping injectors on your STOCK Dak helped? Or do you have some forced induction or something?

Mods? A few.....Leach PCM; JBA hedders and true 2 1/2" dual exhaust with no cats and a Dr. Gas x-pipe with 40 series Flo-masters. Electric Fan only. 72 F&B TB. Functional fresh air hood. Oh and its a stock 5-speed with a 3.92 sure grip rear.

Oh and a correction on my new injectors- they flow @25.5 lbs per hour!!! They really helped the idle and really increased the power.

Does anyone know the limit of the 4.7's fuel system? I have the Paxton s/c running on my truck, with a smaller pulley making more boost and my truck leans out under high boost. I have changed the program in the s/c computer for the smaller pulley and my truck seems like it can't flow enough gas.

Thanks for any help

Maybe try them larger injectors and hope the PCM trims the spray at lower demands. Which it should but I have no experience with that yet.

have you tried to increase the fuel pressure? maybe it's not high enough or the stock pump can't keep up on the high end.

I didn't think you could adjust the stock pump. I don't know. The other thing is that I have almost 84000 miles and am wondering if I just need a new fuel pump, regulator, and filter assembly.

i don't know if the stock reg is adjustable but i would think that someone out there makes one. Have you tried to talk to a tech @ Paxton? They may be able to help.
I don't know what the stock fuel pump is capable of flowing. Maybe enough, maybe not. If not you'd be changing injectors for nothing.
Try to cover all bases before throwing money at it. just my .02

Thanks for the info. I am thinking that I need to figure out a way to deliver more fuel to the injectors. I need to do some more testing though.

Thanks

put a FMU in....when you get into boost it will allow you to add extra fuel pressure...there are also "overdrive" units for your fuel pump available that will up the voltage to the pump and increase the presure. You could also add an aftermarket piggy back computer that would allow you TOTAL fuel mapping, ignition mapping and add extra injectors for higher boost....like a SMT 6

The Paxton s/c already comes with a piggy back computer that adjusts additional injectors and timing. I will have to look into a meathod to flow more fuel.

Thanks
