It depends on what u do with the engine. The 318 stock with a stock drive train, no unless the driver of the lightning is retarded. Here's something to remember and regardless of what others say or think, There is no replacement for displacement, when it comes to large torque and HP numbers (400+). If ur willing to sacrifice gas milege heres a couple things u can do to the 318. A stroker kit, bore and hone each cylinder, larger performance cam. Larger heads with performance rockers, springs and valves (think edelbrock but thas just my opinion). Larger throttle body, high flow fuel pump lines and filters, either Cold air, ram, or cowl induction intake, performance headers, and exhaust. stronger driveshaft beefier rear end and of course up grade the transmission, flywheel and clutch to go with it. With all those mods it would cost less buying a new dak, and adding them, then it would be to buy a ford lighting. Its even possible you would be hangin with the LS1's of chevy.(sorry but all vortec is to me is a bunch of ugly plastic covers). One last thing though. all that hp and torque means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING if u cant get it to the ground so traction bars and better tires are a must.

i don't think you understand his question. he's not asking whether or not his 318 is a Lightning "killer", or faster than one, i think he's asking if the performance package from KRC Performance (Lightning Killer Package, heads, cam, rockers, M1, TB, etc) would mechanically work on his 318. http://krcperformance.com/newcontent/lightningkiller.html
i say email KRC and ask them, but i believe the lightning killer package is designed for the 360. not sure how many of the parts are interchangable, you'd have to get it from them.
