My truck is a 1988 Dak, 3.9L.I am thinking of disconnecting my air pump(taking the belt off). The Cat is not working it just rattles but it is not plugged and I do not have to worry about passing emmision tests. What I would like to know is if anyone else has done this and if they experience any perfomance gain, or does that air pump use so little hp to turn it over that it would not matter? Thanks in advance.

That air pump uses so little power its really not worth it. That air pump is used to put oxygen in the exhaust to help the catalytic converter do its job. But if you want to you can, theres just not going to be a big difference in power. They make awesome superchargers for go-carts though :)
