Subject: get me into the 12's!!!

I have 99 dakota with a 5.9. What would it take to get me into the 12's?? I'm thinking powerdyne supercharger, but what else will i need?? I would like to stay away from nitrous. Would an intake/cam/port and polished heads/and powerdyne supercharger get me kissing 12's?? One quick side question, with your average 6psi supercharger, what kind of RWHP do you typically see out of an otherwise stock 5.9. Also, after doing these upgrades what are some other weak links in these trucks?? Any replies would be greatly appreciated!!

From what I have heard, Powerdyne is the WORST supercharger out there in terms of tunability and quality. Most run either Paxton or Vortech. KRC performance sells a lightning killer package that they claim will put a CC into the mid to high 13's and a RC into the low 13's, I would expect that if you threw a supercharger on top of that you would easily be in the 12's. Be aware that you will also need to drop a few grand on a built trans, the stock won't handle that much power for long.

Don't listen to that crap. With slicks you'll run high 13s with a blower alone. Uncork the exhaust and w/ the head, cam, intake combo you should run mid 12s easy. The transmission more than likely won't take the beating of the head/cam and boost put together, though. A blower on a stock 360 should make around 275 at the wheels on a Dynojet dyno. Mustang dynos usually put out lower numbers, so look into that before you have any dyno pulls done so as not to disappoint yourself.

Science Guy,
Re-read what he said about mustangs, what he said has nothing to do with the car.

dudes quote --> Mustang dynos usually put out lower numbers, so look into that before you have any dyno pulls done so as not to disappoint yourself.

Zach, i read that quote as dude is in fact saying that mustang motors are lower in hp. not that there is a mustang roller dynomometer that measures hp on vehicles. he specifically refered to a "dynojet" dyno to measure hp. so you tell me what said. are you with me on this or are you a ford lover too?

Science Guy, I am pretty sure he is saying that the Mustang Roller Dyno is less accurate than the Dynojet.

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Just a misurderstanding. Sorry if I offended you. I'm not here to piss people off.

I'm not gonnclaim that they're inaccurate. I don't know them inside and out, but I do know that most people make about 10-15% lower power numbers on a Mustang dyno. Sometimes more. I'm not sure why, but they do.

Mustang dyno's measure torque the same as dynojet dyno's but put out lower numbers because they pre-load the car. Thats not the exact word I'm looking for but basically they add resistance to duplicate real world driving conditions (wind, etc).
They are considerd to be more accurate as far as how it will be on the road (thats where you intend to drive right?). Their numbers are about 10%- 15% lower then dynojet dyno's.
Dynojet dyno's give you a better representation of how much torque your engine is actually making.
It's like comparing "wheel hp" to "flywheel hp" or comparing a chassis dyno to an engine dyno.
The dynojet would be considered the "engine dyno" and the mustang dyno would be considered the "chassis dyno"
The engine dyno is going to tell you how much torque your engine is making at the flywheel, while the chassis dyno is going to tell you how much of that power is actually being used to drive the vehicle forward (accounts for drivetrain loss). Make sense?
So no he wasn't trying to say mustangs make less hp or whatever your guys were confused about.
