I'm on step 4 in the Jr. instructions, figure #3. It says: LUBE/CONVERTER FLOW= with a center punch, make a dink in line with the arrow about 1/8" down into the passage. Drill through the partition right to left with 3/64 drill (.042-.047).
Ok, I have the v.b. orientated the way its pictured in the instructions. Now, do I drill virtically up and down through this partition-(which means I should take out that spool valve so I don't nick it when I drill through.....
OR, does this mean to centerpunch the side of this partition 1/8" down from the machined surface and drill through the partition right to left or also East and West-(but then you can't drill through this squarely, it would have to be drilled at an angle a little bit.
Do you know what I mean? Thanks for the help.

Yeah, i'm with ya, I was wondering the same thing for a bit. I can only assume it means drill through sideways from right to left as the directions say. Granted, yes, you will have to drill at a slight angle. If you have a dremel you can reduce the angle by a lot because the head of a dremel is a lot smaller than a regular drill. Also, I didn't even bother using the punch. The valve body is relatively soft, just go slow with such a tiny bit and it'll go through just fine.

Not to say this is right, just the way I did it (pretty darn sure it's correct though.) The truck has run and the transmission did just fine after I did the whole thing the first time.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll drill it the same way you did.
If your not busy tonight, please stay in touch. I really appreciate it a lot!!
Also, when I took the vb out there was some rod that was connected to the vb with an E-clip that went back to the rear of the tranny. Do you know what that is?

Another good question, but nope. Mine came out with the same rod on it. I had no idea what it was or where it went. When putting it back in, just make sure you slide it back in the same slot, play with it a bit (it's pretty well impossible to see back in there where it goes) and eventually it'll go in. I had to play with it a bit, I'm fairly certain there's only one way it can go in so you really can't mess it up.

Kaderdak, Hopefully this will be the last question for you. I have the valve body back together-drilled both 1,2 and 2,3 shifts to .086" or a #44 wire size drill bit.
Anyway in my instruction there is a part titled: HARD WORKING VEHICLES:drill two .080 to .096 holes down through the bottom of the FIRST passage.LITE DUTY VEHICLES: want more feel to lockup, drill one .076 hole. This will help reduce converter slip/burning.
Did you do this step??????? I looked at my valve body and this whole area seemed to be open already so I skipped this step. There is no material there to drill through the (bottom of the first passage). Am I missing anything?

Dang man, you and I think along the same lines. I too was confused by this step and skipped it as well. Looked at my valve body and decided that it didn't make sense with the directions in that case.

Since I have it back out the second time though, I am gonna call transgo on monday and see if they can help me out with that.

Hope everything comes together for you alright. Let me know how it works out, shifts, etc. I'll be leaving my home for vacation tomorrow so probably won't be back on the site for a bit. Feel free to email me though at srr4444@ksu.edu

Kaderdak, Yea, got the v.b. back in. Everything is working just fine-burned up 3 cans of brake clean to be sure I got all the shavings out before dissassembly.
Drilled out 1,2 2,3 holes to .086 and turned PR screw 2 turns from the little plate being flush. Didnt notice much at all in shifts. 1,2 is just slightly firmer. I am going back to talk to the owner of the tranny shop where I got the shift kit and see what he says on friday after work. I'll prob. pull it back out and drill out the holes for the (v8 heavy loads). This should help but I'll ask this guy first. I'll ask him to the specifics with that snow plow hole too.

I just put in the same transgo kit you all did. I made the 1-2 & 2-3 a little bigger that you all did. The bigest thing that i saw that made a difference in the sifts is the TV cable adjustment. If it does not have enought preload, the kit i put in did not make much of a differnce, but when i put a slight preload on the TV cable the sifts were much better.
