Subject: Installing Magnaflow muffler...

Hey guys, getting a magnaflow 14256 replacment muffler for my 02' 4.7CC.

What would you suggest I use to install it? Just plain old exhaust clamps over the muffler inlet/outlet? I've never done any exhaust work and am just replacing the muffler so I (and all the 4-bangers out there) can hear my lovely V-8 rumble.

Thanks much!

Most would recommend welding it in, I think, and any reputable shop will do it. If you choose to bolt in, I'd recommend using the heavy duty clamps to get a real good "squeeze" on the pipes.

Also, if you haven't already purchased that 14256, you might want to reconsider. The aluminized and stainless steel mufflers both have a lifetime warranty, so if you just want the "rumble" and not the "shiny", the 12256 would save you some bucks... probably enough to have it welded in.

If you clamp it, apply some anti seize compound to the pipes before inserting them into the muffler. This will make removing the muffler much easier should the situation ever arise.

I already have the SS version...I like the looks and mom wanted a "Holiday" (for those anti-Christmas asses out there) present idea for me so she bought the pretty one.

I figured clamps would be fine, I really like the anti-seize idea...wouldn't have thought of that.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!
