Heres your chance to start all over kinda... I own a 2000 DAK 5.9r/t CC ...it has 75kish on da clock all upkeep done... I just finished the interior and now want to start PLANNING the engine. my goals are streetable and like all r/ts should triple digit highway drives for long times. I want to keep it NA or maybe at most wouldn't mind BLOWING (not turbo or SC) What should I do, and what should I use, and who from? I'm looking like cams, intakes, valves, exhaust, headers, pcm, etc! Please I'm for real I have looked all over this forum and noticed most are sarcastic. I am just another 'newbie' looking for the best information on what works. I am hopeing someone can lead me to a good setup as I know at 10mpg I can get a lot more then whats here now. A lil more on the trucks purpose, it mainly is a daily driver but in my commute i often reach speeds of 100-140 in winter and up to 160 in summer not always on da duk i also own a Trans Am and two bike (one is sick 211MPH gps confirmed) I need the duck for to/fro work school and for carrying bikes and at most a small cycle trailor. any questions feel free to ask. BTW who care is a 5.9r/t isn't the fastest truck in da world it's build as a compromise thus r/t (road and track)

Ok, lets start with the block. with 75k you'll probably get away with just honing the cylinder, i dont think boring is nessecary at this time unless you just want more displacement. you might gain 5-7 hp by boring. As far as pistons being a daily driver id go with like a Keith black hyperutectic, there stonger than stock but cheaper than forged, a good all around piston. Rods, id leave stock, just have them shot peened (stess relieved). Next cam. dont go real crazy, being automatic, im assuming, a giant cam for a daily driver will in the long run become aggrivating unless you want to put a bigger stall converter in it. also with bigger cams you loose vacuum at idle, as well as everywhere else so power breaks might also become an issue. just get a streetable cam, i've got one in mind but i dont know the specs off hand, ill let you know. Heads, probably run the stockers, just get a good port/polish on them as well as a bowl blend. You might could get the machine shop to take the intake valves to a 2.02 for better flow. You could also shave the heads about .010-.020 for a slight raise in compression. That would probably take you to about 9.5-9.7:1. Run a good set of headers, M1 intake, bigger throttle body like a FB or somthing. Put in about 21-24 lbs injectors, take the rocker ratio to about 1.7 (this is maybe depending on the cam you put in) Um, thats about all i can think of right off hand, read this and if you need more info let me know. Now this plan of attack would be for a good streetable engine, still peppy but also still last a good while. Just remember the more perfomance= less reliability.

if you go with a mild stroker,
you can buy a rotating assemble, crank, pistons,
rods,for about $1800,hughes engines.com,hensley racing.com,KRC perfomance.com

have your heads ported, polish and bowl work like Seth said or buy a set of elderbrock heads for the mags, about $1500,hughes engines.com
hughes also have stageI,II and III intakes and tb,s

the cam is really the most important, once you pick the cam you want,[power band]idle to 4500rpm,1400 to 5000rpm,1800 to 5500rpm so on and so on,then you pick the parts to work with the cam, intake, head work etc

hughes, hensley, krc, comp cam etc all have cams for your motor, you need to talk to some of these people to see whats availiable for you[they will you gear ratio, towing, driving habits, torque covertor stall, weight of truck etc]

i see you want it streetable so i would,nt go crazy on the cam, something that pulls good to 5500-5800rpm

also check to see what availiable for pcm,s or reprograming yours,MP pcm, superchip, kennybell,B&G
and more

headers i would go with long tube, better power,
hooker,hedman,doug thorley,MP etc

hughes engines just did a dyno on there 360 stroker so you might want to check that out,
it may give you some idear what your looking for,
KRC have some also

look some up,call and talk to them any of them should be able to get you pointed in the right direction

sorry for the long post,i just don,t want to see someone spent the money and not get what they are looking for,

let us know what they say and what you decide,

good luck

with those speeds it gets me to wondering as to what part of Germany you live it. Anywhere in the states and the traffic is way to heavy on the interstates for that speed and not run into the rump of a semi.

I have been chattin with a few at krc on dakotart.com and to say the least I KNOW that this is gonna be a bit more $$priceier$$ and diff. then I originaly thought. well I am ordering a new head completely includeing guts, valves, cam etc. All designed for better 3-5k response as well as smoother throughout. As far as exhaust I am goiong true duals 2.5 w/ no cats and mufflers I think FLOWMASTER but might get something else. On my TA I am useing mufflers from old school lamans's and it is awesome sounding. Might do the same here, the TA has a 502ci big block stamped and TT in it. I love doing lifts in it but how many rear ends per season is not a fun question to ask.

AND BTW my speeds on the highway are lets say my perogitive. I only do it when it is resonable safe to do and I make sure no traffic is around me and conditions will allow me to do it as well. Honestly does anyone cruise at even 70-85 at all on I-94 in MI. I know that between jackson and Battle Creek they don't, I have only had 1 close call in an entire year. A guy's storage top on a cherokee on the other side of the road decided to play missle with me. It fell short and hit the near shoulder and I saw his face go from WTF to ohhh s*%t as boom his clothes and what I think were porn (black video tapes with numbers on em) tapes go bomb all over the median. I have had my R/T since Aug. last year so it's been about a year and a half now. I am pleased but I exspected more, it is great at rolling fiqures but the acceleration just isn't there yet. Maybe dodge did it to pease fed, ins, and the fact that you don't need a special liscense to own a fast car/truck in america just 10k and some good INS. I live in MI so now exspect speeds of 60-80 throughout winter as snow and ice have replaced cold and smelly. 14 months till I move to AZ where I can ride year round my trucks milage per year will drop a bit then. My first year on it I put 8k on it 3k on my TA and 13k on my two bikes I love to get out and ride em hard. Back in my Ugrad days I used to go to school in FLA we use to buzz by moms hous on weekends in Detroit on ocaasion 15 hours was an avg. 1100miles we'd do speeds of like 70-80 in city areas and like 140-200 in sparser areas. Loved those days.

There is now two phrases I live by 1 for car 1 for bike

keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up
and
keep the road to the road and the track to the track

Live by those and ur ins will be a lil less I think!

later

This is the same Bulls$$t post you placed on Delphi.

Quit making up your story as you go along...

your truck with a STOCK PCM does not go over 115 MPH... no 140 or higher as you claim.
If you want our advice then give us the TRUTH not this c$$p you have told us above.
