chrysler told me the 2000 pcm will work on the 2001 r/t. No change in diagnostics system in r/t since 98.

The Mopar PCm is model year specific. You can not put a '00 PCM into a '99, a '98, or any other year. As far as performance PCMs, there are several options for the 01+ guys. Two of which include custom flashes for your stock PCM, but woudl reuire, either a spare PCM(that you know works in your truck) or some downtime for shipping annd re-programming. The other options are the Hypertech or Speedchips programmers.
