Subject: trans additive?

Message:
I was looking on the net to find the part number for the Chrysler additive to add to my anti-spin rear. I came across a site where the guy is saying to also use it in the Tranny. He claims one bottle of that and two bottles of the Chryler anti-foaming gear oil additive will firm shifts and also reduce oil foam if you have the line pressure bumped up.

Is this good advice?

I read on a post that before atf+4 you had to add a silicone type anti-foam additive to Mopar trans fluid. Even the dealerships were forgetting when they serviced the tranies so it`s already in the atf+4.

So maybe it`s good advice?

I know of a garage down in Georgia that was stocking about four
or five different transmission fluids for his customers.

He stocked Dexron III, Mercon V, Chrysler ATF+4, Toyota and
Honda "special ATF fluids".

He now uses nothing but AMSOIL Universal ATF and he does not
install any additives to help control transmission shudder and or
foaming anymore.

I Use the AMSOIL ATF in my truck.

for the love of Ged please don't make this a thread that the Amsoil dude feels he can come in make a huge copy/paste again. I am NOT running Amsoil and I am asking this question as a general one with regards to adding the additive(s) to the trans fluid out of curiousity.

Bubbles, I think you are right. The article referenced ATF3 and below, so maybe it is older and this would not give any added benefit to +4.

It's still interesting :-)

O.K. Wal ,

If you use a good fluid and you have everything set up properly
you do not need an aftermarket additive in your ATF.

I use only the best products in my truck and when I recommend
something to you I am only trying to help.

I heard of a guy that blew his nuts in his fluid before adding, he says its better than synthetic.

Doc - let me first tell you that I meant you NO disrespect and I appreciate reading many of your helpful posts. I just didn't want to open the door for the Amsoil guy to come in and start copy/pasting all over the thread. I appreciate that he's in business, but a nice relavant link would be so much more welcomed then his unprofessional annoying shotgun approach. When you mentioned TWISNN (The oil which I will not name), I made that comment to shut the door.

I was curious about the Mopar additive idea in the trans because I had never heard of it or given it any thought before. My interest was purely for $hits and giggles and I wasn't soliciting recommendations for "better" oil.

Thanks, and I hope that I have not offended you :)

Wal,
I am not upset with you whatsoever.

I have a lot of experiance with xxxoil Universal ATF and the
xxxoil Supershift ATF fluid.

Even though you may not like the xxxoil guy and his long
winded post, he is one super guy to deal with.

I have met him personally at a trade show and you just won't
find a nicer guy.

I support the xxxoil sponsor 100% !!!

I really believe in xxxoil products and sometimes I just can't help
but to toot my horn about them.
