Superchargers don't have "blowoff valves".

Then what are they called? They do have a valve to release
unused boost pressure.

I think your thinking of a deverter valve which reuses the boost and sends it back into the turbo to keep the lag down, i'm not to sure about the superchargers though...

A Supercharger is turned by the crank via a belt and pullies, a turbocharger is turned by exhaust gasses.

Turbos need "blowoff valves", to bleed off excess pressure, superchargers(blowers) do not create high pressures because they are directly related to engine RPM.

A turbo works like a pin wheel, you blow, it spins, you stop blowing, it still spins for a while. A turbo will spin after you let off the gas , creating boost pressure your engine doesn't need
so the pressure need to go somewhere. Or if your turbo is creating too much boost you need to bleed the excess pressure. Thus the "blowoff valve"

How about a by-pass valve? It releases the built up boost on decel and when you aren't trying to get boost. Superchargers.com has them but you can find them cheaper else where. 1 on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7924568066&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW or this one http://pap-parts.com/store/prodinfo.asp?number=993%20110%20337%2050%20OEM&variation=&aitem=2&mitem=2

Yeah I have one like in the second link. It is vented to atmosphere not routed back to the blower intake. I got it at a local import parts store for $35. Hope that helps you.

Is it noisy set up that way? (air hissing out of the valve)

Not really, it is noisier than without one. I also have a K&N breather filter PN 62-1420 on the open side of the by-pass that acts as a muffler. If you use the K&N on the by-pass make sure you don't oil it or you will have a mess all over the engine. This is a picture of my old set-up http://dodgetrucks.org/cgi-bin/index.pl?photo=3631

I can get you pictures of the way it is now tomorrow.
