Just wondering if anyone has put one of the Tremec trannys in thier truck, and how they like it. How was the istall, and how is thier service. I was considering calling them on monday and asking them about putting one in my 2nd gen, but it would be a swap from an auto, so there would be more involved.

I live a few miles from Keisler Automotive and have been to Mr Keisler's shop. (I did some work for him and he let me go over to see the setup because there was a sweet challenger there from NY getting some tranny work done. Mr Keisler has a 'Cuda in his garage I tried to talk him out of and it didnt work) Anyway.....the fellas there are nice to talk with an there is a good staff there. Has all the stuff you could ever need for the swap right there on the shelves. Trannys all around for whatever application you need. Trouble is, they do need the vehicle for quite a while to get it in and tested right. So if you can do without your ride, your in there. You can bet that if I had the coin I would pull my automatic out and throw a manual in there in a skinny minute.

I have the T56 kit on my 4.7.

In my case the install was complete hell. The kit for the 4.7 was nowhere near complete and i had to get many components fabbed myself.

The end result is a very very nice trans setup, but a lot of work on my part, also very expensive.

You have the 318 so the kit might work out better but i would try to have it installed by them if you can spare the time and money.

Hey, $3100 to get rid of the p.o.s. NV3500 Daimler put in my truck sounds like a deal. What tranny were you replacing? I'm hoping you started with a Auto and that's where the problems arose.

Also, I wonder if they do something closer to stock gear ratios. Their site shows a first gear ratio that will make my 3.91 diff accelerate like 3.66. If I wanted the taller gear I wouldn't have special ordered the 3.91!

I presume they are trying to improve gas milage, but I'm not. I just want a tranny that , unlike the one Daimler put in, shifts reliably and is likely to withstand my motor's tork in the long run.

Dakota52318,

they quoted me last year, $4300, to swap a 5sp into my auto gen II. That was with everything including pedals and a pistol grip.

I will have to contact them myself... BUT, whith a new best time of 13.85@99.1 I think I might just stay with the auto, so much more consistent, ASP actually quoted 3500-4000 for an auto that could hold 800HP with a TC... not a bad deal I think. When I say consistent, I mean you cant screw up shifts etc... Easier in traffic, and when you are in OC, MD for thier carshow in spring, an auto is really nice.
