I'm sorry. I spouted off and didn't complete my ramblings. I didn't mean to scare anyone.

Of course the NV3500 can, and does for many of you, handle more than the maker's rated input torque. Because NVG only warranties it to DCX in applications up to the 300 TQ / 12,000 lb limits, DCX is only going to offer it in a vehicle that won't exceed the ratings in a truck they sell.

Most (and probably the NV3500's) max ratings and limits are more conservative than they really cn handle. But that's the way the builder can allow for some headroom above where the device should be used and provide reliable service.

We all know from experiences documented on this site that the NV3500 can handle lots more than what it is rated to handle. But, we do it at our own risk.

As for running lots of torque through the NV3500, it shouldn't really put a detrimental strain on it unless it's run consistently at max TQ and 12,000 lbs. The rating is based on the tranny pulling the max load at the max input TQ. That's alot of force. 300 TQ times the 1st gear ratio, 4.01, equals a TQ multiplication factor of 1203 lbs/ft. 4th gear takes us down to 300 going through it...

I'm rambling again. But I hope the point is clear enough. The NV3500 will handle more than 300 TQ, but don't be surprised if stuff breaks.

Duner's 4.7 turbo CC runs 12.3 sec./1/4mi. through a NV3500. The tranny is nearly stock, the best I can recall.
