Gents,
I'm posting (with approval) to let you know that TCE Performance Products is in the final stages of completing a new Front Big Brake Kit for your truck.
This kit is largely based our very popular and track proven Lightning kit and shares many the same components.
The development of this kit was based on customer request and in turn his suggestion that I make it available to other R/T owners. Obviously, we hope to find some further interest in it.
The basis of this kit is this:
13" x 1.25" Directional vaned rotors on Billet alum hats
Four piston Wilwood, diferential bore BSL calipers
Polymatrix Q pads (many options)
Proper length SS hoses
Mounting brackets
And all hardware
Base price: $1350
Options: rotor finishes such as drilling, slotting etc.
Further details;
This installation will require some reworking of your existing spindles and kits will be providing the required tools for such.Kits are ony for 2WD vehicles that we know at this time. Properly matched parts will assure you of proper bias without additional needs. ABS remians fully functional if your truck has it. Fit of this kit will require 17" wheels. We have not done a wheel check fit to the stock wheel yet as the shop is only working from the bench with a removed spindle and not a vehicle.
Durangos?? I don't know. I'm told this is the same basic platform so at this point I can only assume. This was not however the target market for the kit.
Finished installation of the first kit is expected within the next couple of weeks. We have arranged for a small run of brackets for this kit beyond those required for the first kit. This is to accomodate others who may be interested as well.
To that end TCE would like to hear from other Dakota owners who may be looking for this type of kit. We have not yet produced a web page for this custom kit pending some further feedback. For now you may reference the Lightning page for more details.

I'm surprised that there has been little interest in this. Only two phone calls!
I'd heard how the truck needed some better binders on it and the market had limited sources of options. By taking a kit which works well on the Lightning and making some bracket changes I'm confident that the Dakota can benefit from it as well.
While happy to do the 'one off' for customer orders I'd like to breath a bit of life into this project.

This is one of those real good ideas that need to be constantly advertised. Is there any examples of some one doing this mod? What feedback do you have from them? Is there more information on the "how to" of the install? I know if I hadn't did the PowerSlots, Hawk pads and rebuilt calipers, I would have thought very hard about such a kit. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't want to spam this board or any other either. I've got mock up pics via email or referencing the Lightning kits works too as they share the same rotor, hat and caliper. Only the bracket, hardware and bolts are different.
One nice element of this is that it's a bolt on package and aside from you cutting the old ears off and tapping some holes (bit and tap included) there is no core exchange. Keep it simple.
I'm up for some advertising but word of mouth is always more effective. Maybe we can get a few more out there in the near future!

I think the biggest thing mosst Dakota Owners want is an affordable rear disk conversion that works good.

Thanks for the information! I'm interested but with the holidays around the corner modifications are on the back burner. If you get a chance you should also advertise this product on www.dakotausa.com and http://forums.delphiforums.com/dakotart/start (this last one has many customizers).
