I have an unused 8.25 Sure Grip limited slip differential for sale. I bought it last month for my 98 Dakota, but it turns out that it wont fit 98 and newer trucks. It has a 27 spline axle requirment, so it will fit 97 and earlier Daks (or other Chrysler products). It will not fit on a 8 3/4 or 9 1/4 differentals.
It has never been used, as it was a take off from the dealer.
I am asking for $200,

if you are still interested in a Trac Lok for your 98, check out www.4wheelparts.com
give them a call and tell them what you need. Last time i checked, they sold them for $154.00 after tax (if i were to buy it locally at the four wheel parts in fort worth, texas).

I see the problem. I did not convert the currency. In US Dollars, it would be $130 (based upon an exchange of 35 cents on the buck). Since I am such a bone head (for buying the wrong one, missing the obvious) I will even include shipping (by mail) to anyone in the continental US or Canada. If that isnt a good deal, then I dont know anymore

also, I was thinking of the PowerTrax unit as a replacement. Its more expensive, but I can drop it in using the existing open diff carrier. Next on the list is a taller set of gears (3.9's)

one other thing, is the trak lok similar to the PowerTrax? and if so, at the price I saw it at at www.drivetrainsuperstores.com for $145 (US, which is about CDN$225 + shipping and broker fees) which is a heck of a lot cheaper than the PowerTrax. My fear is, and since I am already paying for it, getting something I can't use. Anyone with any experience with the TrakLok?
I must be very careful, the Dak fund is getting low (unless I can sell the Sure Grip above)

oh sorry didnt realize you were talkin' canadian. The Trac Lok is made by Dana/Spicer and is the factory unit you have. I have a broken trac lok for a 98< that still has good axle spider gears. If you think you can have someone swith the gears (these are for 29 spline axles), then it's all your + some shipping.

on the down side, the 98 uses the speed sensor ring attached to the carrier. I already looked into having the ring machined and attached, but the price jumps back to a new one. And then there would be the question of reliability. Murphy's law says it will only break when you are a 100 miles from anywhere.
The trak lok that you mentioned, even after the exchange and the brokerage/import costs still come out a lot cheaper than the PowerTrax. If I can get some $$ back from the Sure Grip, it would be a lot easier to buy new.
Living in Canada has some advantages, but when it comes to buying stuff, it certainly sucks. Rule of thumb is double the cost from the States. Oh and the weather is crap too.

well i have a whole carrier... i managed to break the two spider gears inbetween the axle spider gears. If for any reason you do not sell that one, and you would think about fixing this one or using the parts from that one to fix this one, let me know.

Hey Intense, you still got that broken SureGrip with the 29 spline cones? I found that the speed sensor ring, called an "exciter ring" is only $30 CDN. I ordered one and I think I can make it fit the SureGrip. If you can give me shipping price for that broken one of yours, I'd be very apreciative.
Its going to be the long way around, but it just might work.
Also, since I am doing all this work, I need to find me a 3.92 ring and pinion (used) for a good price. It will be my fall project.

Still have the LSD? Would you accept paypal via creditcard? I might be interested. Currently have a 1992 Dakota with an open diff, been looking to upgrade to a LSD or other locker and 3.92 gears. Looks like this would at least get me halfway there.
Intense is still around. He had some PC problems recently, so that might be part of the problem.

you are just suppose to use the one off of your old carrier.
