From reading about air theory, I would say open up the hood to port cold air down on top of a K&N 360degree, open top filter..

TB is a different thing entirely. Depends on where you want your power. If you want it @ 0-2500RPM, then you'll want a dual opening TB. If you want the power at higher RPMs, or to really push your engine on the highways (outrun the cops?) you'll want a sigle port TB.

It's a vacuum thing.

what V6? 3.9 up to 04- no bigger than 48mm which has 2 bores. 3.7 v6 04-up has a single bore like the 4.7 v8. don't know what size.
cold air- that's a matter of preference or opinion. you can do a site search and make an informed decision. check it out. there are many posts here on this subject. i just modified my stock airbox. don't have the $$ for a CAI and don't want one.

Follow daddio's advise no bigger than 48mm, you could use the v8 throttle body from the same year as your truck. I purchases an after market intake off of ebay "Chrome Air Intakes" it connects up to the stock "airhat" on 97 and newer trucks, it worked great for me, I moved the IAT to this in take since it's an aluminum tube.

NO, not if you have the 3.9, there is NO single bore tb for this engine. the newer v6- 3.7 does have a single bore likes it's big brother the 4.7 V8.

I'm assuming by the name blkdak00 that you have a 2000, hence a 3.9L V6. I had an Airaid, connects the same as a cheapy off of ebay. I would just go with one from ebay. All the filters are practically the same anyway. As far as TB, www.thefastman.com has 46mm ported TB's which he says are as big as you should go ($250) or you can get a 48mm, stock V8 TB off ebay for less than $100. If you go this route, an intake and TB will cost you no more than $150 (both from ebay).

The v8 tb's are 2 50mm bores, but when you include the torque step they become two 48mm bores... The best thing to do on the v6's is to take your stock tb, which depending on which one the guy grabbed up on the assembly line, is more than likely a 48mm tb with torque steps taking the bores down to 46mm's and port out the torque step, shave off the air horns, then port out "funnels" going down into the bores... Then if you wish or have the guts to do it shave down the shaft that works the butterflys...

The best tool to do all of this is a dremmel, so if you have the tools and the time along with the know how, this is the best way to handle the bassically stock v6 throttle body for the best gains or go "high class" aftermarket such as fastman...

If you do go with the v8 tb I think, most of them have to have the accelerator cable changed over from the ball type to the disc type which is what most of the v8 tbs are... There are some ball type v8 tbs, but I can't remember what years they are...

Taking this statement to it's logical conclusion, it sounds like if want a real torquer, I should go with a 4bbl.
