Subject: 1992 V6 Cold Air Intake?

I am wondering if there is a site around here that details and illustrates making a home-brew cold air intake? I have a 92 Dakota V6 Automatic 2WD that I would like to add cold air intake to without having to give up the stock Magnum branded airhat. Call me old fashioned...lol

Easiest way is to punch out the restrictive intake port at the grill. Check it out, it only has a tiny slit top and bottom, to keep water and stones out. Punch it out for more and straighter air flow.

Mine doesn't have the rubber flap. It has a plastic flap that is standing off a little more than a half inch from the hole. I've already taken a drill and honeycombed it. Is that all there really is to having a cold air intake??

There are better systems, this is just the fastest and cheapest way to open up better airflow.

I removed the restrictor plate completely. It simply clips in, no screws involved. That will help somewhat.

I am in the process of modding mine further while keeping the stock airhat. I plan on relocating the battery out of the engine bay to the bed. Once that is done there will be enough clearance to route a second air hose to the other side of the radiator. There is enough room down there to cut a second hole and attach a stock airhose. I picked up a complete airbox assembly from a junkyard and will attach mod my existing one to take the two airhoses. Should work pretty well.
