This is in response to Intense I would really like to see pictures of the shoe horn. I was thinking of building a genIII hot rod trailer queen, because there aren't any here. I looked into Squeezing in a big block but didn't have the heart to cut it up so I gave it to my son and now I'm choppin up an S-10. I will just be one of the many now. Besides the cost of a big block Mopar is really steep compared to Chevy Also thought of using non-Mopar racing engine and tranny in the Dakota but I can't have it back now.I still have my own Dak for a daily driver but can't afford to race one.

Um I don't belive that you have to do any "choping" or "shoe horning" to get a big block in to a dakota. I know of at least one company that makes a kit to fit them in there they even have the oil pan and trans mount. And if that big ass over head cam 4.7 fits surely the smaller bigblock will slip in nicely. At lest alot easier then a BB in a S-10. And the price difence is not the great anymore just the availibility of parts. So ditch the S-10 and get an gen 1 or II dakota. Oh and what is the point of your post?

Point? Intense ask me to start a new thread because we were walking around on another one so he could post pic's of his 6.6. Oh and availability of parts is pretty important to me, because I plan on running 6.50 class in the 1/8th I already run 5.50's in my GTX. and Mopar parts are hard to find and expensive. This is going to be my son's truck and can't afford to keep 2 race Mopars going just thought a Gen.III super street with big ole slicks and a big snorkel stickin out of the hood would be cool. I's And II's are kinda flat faced compared to the III's. Aero is a big issue also trying to keep semi stock appearance. Thats why I am chopping up a $300 95 S-10 instead of a $7,500 DAK III. Heck with the $7500 I'll have the S-10 into the low 6's. However generic it will be 6.50 class pays pretty good!

the kit you speak of is only for the genI and genII dakotas. They require a lot of custom pieces with that kit though.

i did a lot of work that i didnt need to do... just wanted to...

6.6 Lt. Big Block, 727 TF shift kit, 452 heads, edelbrock 750 cfm, .513/.513 284/300 crower cam, comp cams springs, comp cams pushrods, 1.5 roller rockers, dp intake, mopar ignition, mopar windage tray, dual exhaust w/ 40 series flowmasters, 4.10 gears, coilover drag suspension, approx, 3500 lbs

OH ok sorry I didn't understand why you were starting a post saying you gave up on your Dakota and building a BB S-10. A BB S-10 would be sweet though they are a few hundred lbs. lighter then the gen I and II Dakotas, and a hole lot lighter then the gen III. Does a BB even fit in a S-10? I know the SB is a tight fit. You must not live in the rust belt a $300 dollor S-10 around hear does not have much of a body left. I would build a BB gen II dakota though the gen III are to heavy and expensive. Oh well have fun with whatever you build.

Martin, with a torch and welder and a tubing bender you can pretty much make anything fit into anything. been looking around on Ebay the found a nice wrecked R/T pretty cheap. A Pro Street Dak might not be out of the Question after all! I'll just retire the tired old GTX body and put on the DAK body. I am dreamin right now outloud and online so forgive me I am having a pipe dream and trying to make it work So what do you think A DAKOTA on a tube chassis with the Big Block Mopar.I hope my bid holds out ,this looks like a challenge.
