Don, your telling us that a 5000LBS. with 210-220 HP.Colorado Beat your 93 DAK. that is about 34- 3800 LBS. Are you saying A 5 CLY eng. with 225LB.TQ. beat your DAK? DUDE your truck is runing like S##t.Very sorry to hear that.
In my mind your light DAK.W/318 should smoke my 02 4800LB.4 door 4X4 auto DAK.
I dont know about the eng. size but the Colorado I ran, I smoked real bad from the line and again from 70MPH.

Anyone heard the exhaust sound from one of those yet?
I heard one with a louder exhaust.

I'm not jealous. It sounds like sh!t compared to my V8.

The one that tried to race me had a loud exhaust it did sound like sh!t. Nothing purrs like a V-8. Personally, I think anything but a V-8 sounds like crap with a loud exhaust, but that's just me.

I had a V-6 with an exhaust many years ago and hated the chainsaw on steroids sound it made. Ricers putting exhausts on thier 4-bangers make them sound like weedeaters on steroids. The Colorado 5-cylinder was a cross between these two.

DSW I'm with you. I think the same thing.
I don't even like the sound of the V10!!! They sound like an inline 6! Maybe it's just the trained ear to all the years around V8's but I think it's more than that. It must be just mechanics of the V8 that make the awesome sound.
SOme V8's are better sounding than others. I always liked the sound of the Mustang 5.0 and even the new 4.6. Maybe because Ford always gave true duals.

Now that I've got my 4.7 I'm happy as sh*t with the sound. Best soudning V8 exhaust I've had in a LONG time.
The Colorado. I am not worried. They made it UGLY! Then they stuck a I5 in it and since it sounds like sh*t to begin with, will be most certainly riced out by the morons that think they have (performance) potential!
The Colorado will be one of those that is best kept QUIET he he he! :-)

I didn't actually run side by side with the Colorado, but at Badimere Speedway in Denver at the 14th Annual Truck Fest there was one running same class as me (2wd Street). I turned 16.2@84 (NHRA correction factor = 15.02@90.49) and the Colorado turned 17.49@73 (correction factor not needed on something that slow). I wasn't suprised, but it was fun rubbing in the fact that his truck was 400 #'s lighter (his weight just before the race was 3,880 #'s at a local truck stop scale) than mine and it was 1.2 seconds slower than the Dak. The Chevy Colorados are designed for women, slow and steady with good fuel milage.

I drove on of those colorados and like GraphiteDak said it sounds like sh*t. It doesn't sound like any normal engine. Sounds kinda like a turbine engine just more annoying. They do go pretty good for its weight and power output thou. Dakota would definetly beat it!

If my heavy 4X4 QC (what do these weigh? 5000+?) didn't do LOW 16's I'd be pist. I couldn't imagine buying a slow a$$ inline 5 banger with the intentions of DOING MODS!
At least the V8 in my 4X4 sounds good and is pretty quick.
Damn. I really need to get to the track so I can find out how fast (or slow) my pig is!

You mean to say that a CC Colorado with 2 peeps and some stereo Equipment is gonna weigh 2900 #'s. Lighter than my Nissan XE King Cab was with no fuel and nothing in it not even a spare or a human body (3080 #'s). I seen his weight ticket. 16.8, what falling off a cliff or straight outta some magazine page. Real world it is slow. Been there seen it. here is my pic from Bandimere Speedway at Denver, CO.

I had an 82 RC S-10 with a 350 in it, weighed 2850# at the scales. 2900# for a Colodaro, I think this is on the light side.
