I'm looking for some suggestions on performance mods for my 97 5.2L CC 4x4. It doesn't look like there is much out there for a 97. I'm interested in exhaust, an air FIPK, and PCM. Any help on where i can find these things is appreciated.

I didnt want to spend the price on that fipk kit so I bought the 360 intake kit, its just as good in my opinion and it looks cooler. You can buy it with power coating I got black it is not as shiny as they show on the page buy its still worth the price. I bought it for 175 from www.eastcoasttruckin.com it was a great buy. dont forget to relocate your IAT sensor in it. As far as a programmer look at ebay you can get them a few bucks cheaper there. I have a 98 5.2

I've got the same truck. I don't know if you're looking for something real specific, but I haven't had any problems finding things. I like the sound of JBA and am looking towards them for exhaust. I haven't paid *that* much attention, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a major manufacturer that makes exhaust systems and headers. Spintech, Magnaflow, for the less obvious choices. Find a company you like and give them a call. I'm sure they'd be happy to take your money. ;)
Check dakota.racenet.com, truckperformance.com, summitracing, etc... There are lots of links spread throughout these boards.
As far as a CC goes, Hypertech, Mopar, and Superchips are all on my short list.
HTH!

If you can afford them, people really seem to like the Mopar headers and Performance PCM. There are less expensive ones out there though. As far as muffler, find the one you like the sound of the best. Performance will not vary that much (if at all) from brand to brand. I personally like Flowmaster, but I'm sure there's several people who hate them, so judge for yourself. I love my Intense Performance Stage III cold air intake. It is a true cold air intake and all the ducting is ceramic coated (not just painted silver) to keep heat out. It also is the coolest looking one out there. After you get all this done, your cat will be your bottleneck & you'll need to get a high flow. After that you may want to get a larger throttle body to get even more air in there. Damn, now you've got all that extra capacity what are you going to do about it? How about a cam and new rockers. Oh and don't forget with all that extra air, we're going to need more fuel. Better upgrade those injectors. With all that extra fuel and air, our stock ignition seems pretty weak. Wow. Now she really hauls ass, but can my bottom end really handle all that extra power? Better upgrade it just to be sure.I'm not trying to be a smartass, just using a little humor to make the point of how mods can snowball in a very short period of time. Plus there's ton's of stuff I left out, so be careful. It's also a wish list of everything I want, but can't afford to do to my truck. Good Luck.

I had a 98 2wd 318 5spd reg cab. You should be able to find the same stuff for your truck. I had the hypertech pp3 which I liked because you could "turn it down" for better gas mileage in only a few minutes. You can also adjust your speedo for bigger tires. Instead of a $400+ throttle body, I bought a $50 dremel tool and ported and polished mine. It's still not quite as large as the aftermarkets, but I could feel the difference and it cut about 1-2 tenths off my 1/4 mile times. The 450 bucks left would pay for a mopar m1 intake manifold, which is said to be a 10 to 15 hp gain over the crappy beer keg stock manifold. Instead of the expensive air intake, I pulled my out the stock air box, used a piece of 3 inch pvc as a sleeve between a 6"X 9" K&N cone filter and the stock flexible tube, then slapped a hose clamp on it. I had to sand the pvc a little. Then I ripped off the useless piece of rubber to the pass. side of the grill to allow air to flow straight toward the filter. Not pretty but it cost $60 bucks including the filter. I then took that extra $200 bucks and had a 3" flowmaster 40 series installed with no cat and 3" pipe from the manifolds back. I also used an o2 sensor simulator in place of the rear o2 sensor to avoid engine trouble. They're about 60 bucks from jasper's electronics. I couldn't afford those sweet 500 dollar Mopar headers, and most of the cheaper ones were smaller in diameter and I wanted the big ones. I bought a used set of ford motorsport 19lb injectors off of ebay for about 50 bucks. They are a direct replacement and have a more efficient 4 hole design. You don't need higher flow injectors until you have boost, spray, or some seriously big heads/ cam. Even then you'll need bigger fuel pump and regulator. Ditto with the ignition system, you don't need it yet, in my opinion. Run one step colder Autolite plug than normal, I forget the part numbers. I had good hi performance rotor, cap, and wires. The combo I mentioned above with no internal mods and no headers ran a 14.85 quarter mile with a 2.2 second 60ft time in 95 degree alabama summer heat. There are many different combos but you need good exaust and airflow before you bother with the big stuff.

Good 5.2 mods:

M1 intake
high flow air cleaner
Mopar PCM
Crower 1.7 RRs
relocate IAT sensor to intake tube
tune TPS sensor to 0.72v
headers - ceramic coated if you can afford it
muffler and/or catback system
high flow cat
I think your truck has multiple O2 sensors - get an O2 simm to fool the PCM and free up a little more power.
50mm or 52mm TB - fastman or F&B
If no LSD in the rear, get one and gearing 3.92 or higher.
Electric fan install to remove the clutch fan
Underdrive pulleys
ported/polished 1.92" R/T heads

nitrous and/or supercharger

If you want to put a cam in, use 1.6 RRs instead. The 1.7s will need Mopar valve covers for clearance, although you can mod the existing ones to make them fit.
