Subject: New dual exhaust odd smell
IP: Logged

Message:
I have an 01 4.7 ext cab 2wd. Yesterday I went to the local muffler shop and had put on a magnaflow muffler with a single in, dual out, 2.5 inch pipes all the way back to 3.5 inch
tips. But now I have an odd smell coming from the back of my truck. It smells sort of musty. I checked underneath my truck, the left pipe has about an inch of clearance from my spare tire. I touched the tire, it was warm, but not hot. This is the first time I’ve had new exhaust put on and was wondering if this is normal or not. Thanks.

New muffler is breaking in, that smell is the internals heating up. Nothing to worry about at all.

okay, thanks. I was hoping it was normal but wasn't sure. So far I'm pleased with the magnaflow. With the 2.5 inch pipes it doesn't really feel like I've lost any torgue on the low end at all.
