I Blew up my R/Tīs Head gasket last friday.

I have a powerdyne supercharger(9psi)with Nitrous(50hp,Got disapointed with just the powerdyne!) and the other regular bolt ons(throttle body, M1, 1.7rrs, headers, exaust, ignition, shift kit, etc......

I was using the Felproīs 1009 and they just lasted for a week!
Iīm using the stock iron heads
Iīm about to choose between two gaskets:

-Millodon (copper) -Summit has them... MIL-40027

-Cometic -Hard to find.... KRC have them but I need this real, real fast!!!!!! Anyone Can Tell me which one is better for my aplication?

I already ordered the ARP head bolts...

Please, guys ,

The copper gaskets are the best but it takes time to set them up right. The block and heads have to be near perfect (like a fresh mill job) in order for it to hold.

IMO The best for you application would be the Cometics. I haven't used them myself yet but everything I've read about them has been good.

While your heads are off you might want to look them over for cracks between the valve seats. Stock heads seem to crack easily.

Thanks, Eye Trip. I have made many searches and was not able to find Cometicīs telephone on their website or elsewhere. I would like to give them a call.

Besides that,
Do you know the right torque that has to be used on each ARP bolt to go right with all the motor? I suppose that the Cometicīs must have a different amount of torque than the Millodonīs have.
Anyone know that? what torque each one has to use to be corrected on the set up???

Thanks,

What did you torque the factory bolts to when you put the felpro's on?

Do you have an A/F gauge?

sux that the 5.2/5.9 only have 10 head bolts per side... my 6.6 has 17 and 8.2:1 compression so i have seriously thought about boost.

6.6 Lt. Big Block, 727 TF shift kit, 452 heads, edelbrock 750 cfm, .513/.513 284/300 crower cam, comp cams springs, comp cams pushrods, 1.5 roller rockers, dp intake, mopar ignition, mopar windage tray, dual exhaust w/ 40 series flowmasters, 4.10 gears, coilover drag suspension, approx, 3500 lbs

My friend did that to me. So Iīll have to check with him. I have a A/F and when I was tuning the supercharger I ran rich for almost a month.

Hey, Greg

In my opinion you should wake up that monster you already have under the hood with boost!!

Install it a blower(roots)on your motor. If you canīt buy one just rebuild one.

I mean that a 6-71 will do a fantastic job and you will eat every car on the road with the instant boost. You have a great engine and lot of head bolts..17 hehhee...
Just my 2 cents and a little bit jelous for more displacement. hehehe...

well, i would make sure your friend put enough torque on the head bolts. There shouldnt be any reason to blow a head gasket after a week if tuning was correct and installation was performed correctly.

I wouldnt call a 400 a "great" motor but i'll tell you this... it's very very loud, has instant torque and gets noticed very easily.

thanx for the compliments... i have been thinking a 6-71 would be cool. It would be pretty darn crazy to see a fly-catcher sticking out of a late model dakota's hood.

Please, Greg and others who can help me;

Yesterday, I ordered those cooper gaskets and ARP bolts from Summitracing(They have an excelent customer service and the deliver is real fast to my country)because canīt wait too long for the cometicīs and have no clue where get them on a big shop or the telephone...

My friend used a good book which has the chryslerīs engines torque specifications and the sequence of each bolt to be torqued too. However, itīs for the 360 ci engine without the magnum heads.

I suppose that he used the boltīs torque for the stock head gaskets(The bookīs) , not what Fel-pro say for the ones they sold me..

I donīt know what kind of book he used(if is good or not) because I didnīt talk to him yet.

So my 2 questions are:

1)What kind of Silicon do I have to use on the Millodonīs cooper gaskets(just to seal the water
Valleys millodon says..)?

2) Do I have to follow the same torque that Millodon say on their heads instructions since I have an iron magnum head and not an early 70ies heads or alluminunīs whose are different than mine. What will be the right torque for my aplication? "Eye Rip" told us: -"The block and heads have to be "near perfect" (like a fresh mill job) in order for it to hold"

I donīt want near perfect, I want perfect!

Just donīt want to make sh*t to my motor....

Thank you guys in advance!
