My Friend has a 96 Dodge ram, 1500, 4x2, club cab, short bed with a 5.2L V8 and only a K&N air cleaner. I have a 01 Durango SLT 4x4 with the 4.7 with only a K&N filter, could I take him in a race?

But of course you win numbnuts. Why u ask? heres the sketch. Although the ram is a good truck with a good engine (same engine as my baby) yet here lies the your advantage, the ram is heavier, and your truck is the newest generation of dodge's in this case the slt 4.7 making this engine react faster with less compression involved. so what are u wating for i got $500 bills that u win, but then again it is not just the machine but the operator too.

Lower compression??? What is the 96 318 have? The 4.7 is over 9.0:1 I believe.

Hey. If you REALLY want to have fun racing him. Get him to race in the rain! Put yours in 4HI and you wont scratch a tire while he can't even get moving! I love doing that to cut in front of Ricey FWD cars and the such when I need to get into their lane to turn, etc.
Gives you a GREAT advantage.
