Could anyone tell me if you can put a 5-speed behind a 5.9 that had a auto. I'm doing a swap in a 95 dak. i would like to keep the 5-speed that is in it, can i turn a bigger hole in the crank to acommidate the pilot bearing? also what are the major differences between pcm for man. and auto?

Yes. Here's how the pros do it.

Adapting to a '95 wouldn't be a problem. Most Magnum engines were drilled for the tranny bushing, but some were not. The bushing is a must. Not really sure what the differences between PCM's are, other than the automatic PCM would be looking for the auto tranny, to deal with converter and overdrive control. The 1993 MP PCM's are all the same part number, but later on, the manual units carry a different number. Go figure.

In 95, you could get a Ram 2500 with a 5.9 and 5 speed from the factory. Not many were made, so they are a little scarce. Obviously, the best way is to find one and swap all the right parts.

But that is a little more difficult than it sounds, since there are so few of them around. So go down to your local public library and peruse the interchange manual to see what the common parts are.

I would think that your biggest obstacle could be the crank shaft. If it's drilled for the bearing, it's now an easy swap. If not, the crank needs to come out. That's a lot more work than you may have originally planned.
