I have a sh itty ford ranger 4 cyl. It's slow as h ell. I'm looking at ford lightnings, chevy extremes and Dakota R/T's. I'm looking for performance.
From what little I have checked out on this board, there have been some talk about the three.
My brother has a chevy extreme and thinks he could wup all you dodge dakota lovers. He thinks this board is a joke and that all of you people wish you had a ford or chevy with your dreams and wishful thinking, hoping your dodge will become some kind of a high performance truck with all the upgrades you waste your time and money on. And, that I should not purchase a s hitty dodge.
That's why I need you guys/girls to hopefully prove him wrong. Is dodge truley a slow truck compared to the others?
Fill me in. Thanks.

Your brother was right about them dodges. Their all junk and if u do buy one you'll regret every minute of it.I say u should buy a chevy. Chevys are the best car u can buy and since i had mine for 3 years i didnt even have to give it an oil change.Now thats rad.

if you are looking for performance go for the lightning.extreme is a joke it is all looks and no balls. tell your brother to bring his extreme to kissimme, florida and i will smoke him in neutral. i have owned a ton of chevy's 2 s-10's/84 gmc silverado w/350. i liked them all but let's be serious (extreme and performance are mutually exclusive.)

I hope your joking about the Extreme!? Hell, I've beat several in my Durango. I think the fastest one here is like a 10.95 in the 1/8th and he has all the boltons..btw my Durango runs a 9.72.
Lighting is the only way to go if your wanting pure performance...daks need some tweaking to be fast.

I heard that the lightning has a stock s/cer.
Maybe I should go with the Dodge SRT 10. That should wupp on the lightning. Viper engine and all.
Does anyone know if the srt 10 comes 4wd like the lightning?

Don't waste money on an srt10. For all the extra money it only beats the lightning by 2 tenths to 60mph and 3 tenths in the quarter mile. If you buy a lighting, you can get a smaller pulley for the super charger and beat the Dodge for way less money. Or you could buy a first gen s10 and put a 350 in it with about 370 hp and rape both of these overweight trucks.

Honestly , Id get a Lightning. Factory done performance. Sure you can make a Dakota fast , but its gonna take a ton of parts , money and headaches. I think the Dak looks way nicer but if want performance get a Lightning. And if you want to mod the L , its cheap and easy. Pulley , chip , airfilter ... and you got a 12 sec ride.
The SRT-10 Ram is a little faster but mods for it are way expensive. The Chevy Xtreme is a joke for performance.
I know this a Dodge forum and some of you dont like to hear this. Sorry.... thats JMO

looks like everyone has the same opinion about choosing the lightning for pure performance.i agree about the srt-10(to much $$$$$(.i just bought a 2002 durango 5.9 and was asking ?'s about srt-10. it lists for $45000 but all the dealers tack on $10000 to that because they know they can get it.
if you want performance and do not necessarily want a truck the neon srt-4 is faster than anything dodge exc. viper for around $21000 and you you can upgrade the turbo and comp and injectors for $3k and get 325-350hp (sh!t now that would be fast).i believe that is on a mopar web site but i cannot remember address.

If i could afford the SRT-10, i would buy it. Yeah the lightning could go faster, but the SRT-10 makes a bolder statment. Not just any average smo will own a SRT-10 while i know kids a couple years younger than me who own Lightnings. If you want to be hella fast, drive one cool truck and stand out in a crowd of Ligthnings and R/Ts, then the SRT-10 is the way to go...
.. and if i could afford a SRT-10, i could afford to make it faster ;-)

All u Dodge ho moes need to do ur research on chevys their the best way to go. I can smoke all u in my xtreme because i have a 6.6 liter big block, supercharger, turbo, high performance roller rockers, and a jet chip in it that my dad installed and many other mods that u dodge ho moes wont ever know about because i will smoke every one of yous any time of the day so stop talking all that crap about your truck being sooo fast because they arent.
This is the last time im telling u this and it is to get a f-in CHEVY cuz they are like a rock.

The extreme is all the suspension work done it for the buyer to do mods two chevy just did some of work all you have to do is engine mods I ve seen supercharged extremes in the low 13s

Chevys are like a rock, huh?? Are they like the rocks of crack you smoke every night?? Cause you gotta be smoking something if you think S-10 Extremes are better than Dakotas. My mom's Caravan will take care of those pieces of sh1t. Let it outrun my dad's Hemi, then it can step up to my truck. And I doubt (know) very seriously if any Extreme(POS) S-10 will hang with my dad's Ram without extensive mods. So dream on you gay, POS Chevy-loving, overweight, herpes infested, crack baby.

walter needs to lay off the crack pipe. have you been kicked off the chevy sites and no are reverted to playing with us lowly mopars.there is something wrong with your cap locks key(chek that owt playa).does your daddy do everything for you.you probably can't even change your oil.i have owned many chevy's/gms(6 total).the 350 is the easiest and cheapest engine to mod since the block has been around since the 50's.how fast does your car run the 1/4 and how fast.i had my 82 firebird w/350 4bbl and 410 gears @108.5mph @13.2sec in 1/4mi.all done for under $5000 including car. some of us just like to make things go fast.

In my opinion, mixings the words "Xtreme" and "performance" are like mixing water and oil: they don't mix. It seems to me that many people who actually feel an Xtreme is fast are the young tikes who own them. Stock form they are all show with just about no go. I wouldn't waste my time with them.

No matter what you drive, it all comes down to weight divided by horsepower. Lower the number the better! There are some variables, but for the most part it works.
Hey Walter... if I had a "supercharger, turbo" I'm sure I would be fast too!!
