i have the 3.9 in my 96 dakota. i want to increase the hp a lot. i plan on doing the performance throttle body, intake manifold, cam shaft, lifters, pushrods, roller rockers, valves, springs all from hughes engines and get my heads ported and polished. maybe also the pistons and h beam rods, also plan on a venom 400 module and maybe a performance chip. do you think this will get me to about 300 hp? It will be hard to get 300hp out of a v6. Your best bet would be to supercharge it. You will probably end up with more HP from a supercharger than from all those mods listed about. It might end up being cheaper too. search around on the v6 board to see what kind of set up is best for a supercharger. Do not get a venom 400 module. It does not do much.

i have done some searching for a blower and i can just adapt one for a 5.2, but i am just trying to go "all motor" with my power. actually, all the parts i want will be about 1500-2000, a supercharger is about 3300, but thanks for the advice. Steve

Bore the block about 20 over just to true up the cylinders. Not a lot of gain for boring a V6. If stroker kits ever get reasonable, that would help. It would be hard to find since Dodge has discontinued the 3.9, no one wants to make them. When you can find one, it pretty high. Supercharger or turbo may get you to the 300hp numbers. But as much as I like a V6, to spend that kind of money, you can have a V8 that you can get many more parts for. Good luck.

chill fool, sorry bout that, my computer spazed out n for some reason decided to send the thing 3 times, that is not my fault. i hit the button once and then everything froze.
i can get a stroker crank for my engine, but last time i checked it was $3000. Steve
