I got my 2001 4.7/auto DAK used about 5 weeks ago with 48k miles on it. Thing was great, I went and had the tranny flushed, but the filters weren't changed (Jiffy Lube said flushing would clean out the filter cuz the ATF was a detergent). I was skeptical but I have to admit it ran beautifully. So after these 5 weeks my downshift time has practically doubled. I can punch it and I have to wait much longer than I used to! Are the clutches in the tranny wearing out or what? I also have some boggy starts, so my other thought might be the air filter was dirty and it couldn't breath.

Maybe I'm just loosing my mind. I tend to take out transmissions very easily (I've ruined 2 other trucks), so I'm kinda or paraniod, so maybe the time is the same and I'm just freaking out.

Any thoughts? Thanks. Kevin

Make positively sure they used ATF+4. If not flush out whatever they used with +4. And change the filters no matter what. Flushing won`t magically clean them.

I know it's ATF+4. I have not changed the filters however. I pushed it pretty hard today and it was doing fine. I think I was just just forcing it at the wrong times (midshift, etc.). I did check the tranny fuild several times and it was clean as a whistle, no shards.

What you were told about detergent ATF cleaning filters is nonsense.
